I made this hat and scarf set for a family member for christmas.... The hat was my very first attempt at cabling anything! What I did was I knit the cabled band first, sewn the two ends together, and off the top ring of it I knit the rest of the hat, so it looks kinda cool, I think. And my first attempt at cabling, is not too shabby if I say so myself!

Since, though, I've cabled into 4 or 5 other projects.... But I did want to show off my first attempt....

It looks kinda big on that styro head... it's a men's size hat, that's a fairly small woman's size styro head.

I do love cabling.... it's a lot easier than what I thought it would be.... now I can jump in the deep end and knit an aran sweater for my brother, he's wanted one for a while! ;)

THAT is your first cable? Good lawd, woman, you're amazing! My first cable was...not that intricate/good-looking. :D

Cabling has grown on me; at first, it was too awkward, but now I can't help put a little cable into everything I do.

:& Well, thanks, ConeyIsland... I was quite lucky that it turned out alright, although I must admit that I undid-and-reknit the beginning about 5 times before finishing it.... :hysterica
