Here is a thought: Why is it that so many young women and older 1s 2 are getting into this plastic surgery craze? I mean, are we not satisfied with the body the Universe has lent to us?- For Christ sakes- it is a shell but A Temple nonetheless... This has really been bothering me lately -how society has mad more than a dozen t.v. shows where people wanna look like J.Lo(ugh) or some other girl out there...Why can we not use what we have- take care of our bodies and make it work for us?> There are women as young as 14 having their parents sign off on their cosmetic surgery-What Gives?..I know their is constant pressure to do this and that and the other but...Women I admire and are friends with have not went under the knife to improve their self-image...I understand plastic surgery may be needed if one gets involved in a serious accident ,etc...but why for fun? I welcome your thoughts and contributions to this thread...
You are absolutely right, the fact is the whole society as it is revolves around sexual exploitation. From childhood on, girls are brainwashed into thinking that they won't be accepted, cherished or loved, if they don't turn out to be barbie dolls and it doesn't necessarily have to be done by the parents...it could be the TV shows. Even cartoons and games show girls having perfect bodies, well thats just when they are young. When they come to their teenage years and crazy hormones rushing through their bodies, "what boys think" , "Trying to fit in" and "being one with the crowd" programs get activated in their brains and with the media making money off of sexually provoking adds and making men go crazy over these things... the women too try to get men to notice them by doing whatever it takes. It is time we put a stop to this mess...
i think it insane how many people are getting cosmetic surgery and all, but its their body so who really cares? If someone has self esteem problems and larger breasts will fix that, great for them. Everyone isnt born with a great stellar body to be proud of, so if it will help some people i dont see a problem with it personally.
i think plastic surgery is stupid! people look fine before they have it and look worse after i mean Micheal jackson keeps having surgery on his nose and now there aint hardly anything there hes completely wrecked it. one of my friends wants to have breast implants and she doesnt need to there fine and you paying loads of money on something which later in life your gonna wish you hadnt had it done.
Wow- u really have a good head on your shoulders! The whole MJ thing-well- I do no longer respect Michael Jackson...he does not respect himself- to comment on that- And what's worse is weak-minded individuals that keep attempting to improve this and that...and they are becoming Vain, hiddenly insecure and addicted to a false appearance.., that is like changing one's skin color- and many people believe M.J. has done that as well...I don't know it is true to each his/her own- but it sets a misleading xample to people especially young girls.
Now that I have kids I am alarmed at how early girls express dissatisfaction with their looks and their bodies. My older daughter is almost seven and she asks me if she's fat. She's not overweight. In the winter she didn't want to wear a warm jacket because she thought it would make her look fat. She doesn't get that attitude from me. My mom took her to the pool the other day and told me that in the changing room some girls that my daughter knew from school, who appeared to be around 8 years old, were talking about dieting and how much weight they needed to lose! I find it alarming. I, of course, think my kids are gorgeous.
I believe you when u say your children are gorgeous- It's vital to tell them at an early age no matter what they look like that they are 1) a gift 2) no matter, what they are beautiful- and beauty comes from inside. I have been complimented by many men that I am what one would call beautiful. Yet, at the same time I know 2/3 things Beauty fades, the definition of beauty waxex and wanes according to the next issue of Cosmpolitan magazine, and physical beauty is ONLY skin deep- Believe me, I am no(beautiful famous celebrity female name here)neither do I want or need to be.I do not go around saying I appear/model myself after them either. I take care of myself and feel I am attractive,but- that is not what I think of constantly...If my legs go unshave 1 or 2 days or even a week -Great!!! Less irritation - There is a certain comfort however in feeling confident,sensual,seductive- it's just a matter at to what lengths you go... It is important thought that there is mass media that displays and advertises that there are people in this world that are natrually beautiful- no matter what image and still Successful(whatever that may be)
OK there is nothing wrong with getting implants and there's nothing wrong with plastic surgery if that's what you choose. I don't think anyone under 18 should do it, but other than that it's your choice. It may interest you all to know that I've had cosmetic surgery. I had an accident and had to have some things done to my mouth. It made me feel so much better that now I'm planning to have more done. If that makes me shallow, fine. The fact is that no one is going to tell me that I can't have things done to make myself look and feel better...especially another woman. We're supposed to be supportive of each other!
Just to remind U you of something Vinceneilsgirl-(wow,he must really love you) - I am glad u felt u needed to have plastic surgery(- Note- I said in one post I could see the rationalization in u getting surgery because of an accident or trauma; read carefully to make sure u saw that ) and now u are getting more done- especially since u are Really Rich and do not mind the results U have received.GOOD 4 U!!!!!-- I do not know u and to say I support you is weird because I don't really know too much about you- this thread is just my opinion about surgery,implants,etc... and how I feel and how others may feel- Please realize your voice is welcome and We all have our own viewpoints here- There is no need to get uptight girl!!! Relaxxx-lol-
if I were dating a woman, and discovered that she had fake breasts I couldn't really be intimate with her. it would be such a turn off that I would not be able to perform! (I have a thing about plastic - I won't wear it, and I certainly won't have sex with it!) why would anyone do that to their body?!
Oh and I almost 4got, Vinceneilsgirl- Do u think natrualists and hippywomen get breast implants or plastic surgery to their bodies? Is that what they would see as natrual? Is that what they desire to display to get a higher self-esteem? Remember, we are not in Bush's site right now so - we do not necessarily say/do things people in the status-quo do... I am just trying to figure out where u are coming from- And (u don't have to answer this- u can answer it inside yourself though- What happens VINCEneilsgirl- when the plastic surgery you have had does not get it satisfy you anymore? It(the cosmetic surgery) does not make u feel any better because, to society -there is always another woman more beautiful- or prettier than You. (again u do not have to answer-) I know I am pushing the envelope but- this is the thread I was inspired to create for :me, the beautifull women of this site, their children and beyond. Do what u like in Life, Vinceneilsgirl.., it is always up to u and always has been...
I agree with u Zippy...I dislike plastic and do not find it attractive on women.Even certain supermodels(yep those grls 2) have a distaste for it -who needs that on a catwalk!?!lol...anyhow...I always hated those plastic rings that they give in gumball machines to kids...on the other hand - jelly sandals were cooll..,lol- were those plastic or rubber ?hmmmm.
I have a neighbor who likes to re-arrange things on her body....lift the butt, enlarge the breasts, collagen in the lips and goes to the salon for dye jobs. I thinkk she looks totally plastic, but she thinks she is doing her Husband a favor....I guess by spending all his money!!!! Funny thing, when she opens her mouth, it all goes to hell, she has a really high-pitched whiney voice that can clear a room it 10 seconds. Oh well...no plastic surgery as of yet for the voice box!!!!!! Peace, ruby P.S. I will never have it done on me...I have earned every damned wrinkle, sag and gray hair I have, and I am not a bit ashamed of my appearance!!!
You must not have read my post all the way through. Did you miss the part about my accident? I had surgery done on my mouth because I was in an ACCIDENT. And yes, it does make me feel better about myself and no I'm not done yet. I was in an accident, and afterwards I looked like a science experiment gone bad....do you really think I wanted to live my entire life looking that way? What about women who lose their breasts to cancer and then get implants, or kids who are burned in fires and then get plastic surgery. Are you saying that they shouldn't get these things done? I'm thrilled that there are people out there who don't want plastic surgery, but those of us who have had it usually have a very good reason. Yes, there will always be someone prettier. So? Does this mean that if you want to improve yourself through plastic surgery you shouldn't be allowed to? Of course not! On a side note, I know people of all types who've had plastic surgery. This stretches from country club types like my stepgrandma to hippies like my parents and I. It's a choice...and nothing else.
I can understand the reasoning behind reconstructive sergeries. I cannot see the good in the way our society is idolizing a particular brand of beauty. Fake bodies are not improving the self esteem of our society, because it isn't anyone's self! It's make-up gone too far! We need to learn to appreciate when the human body looks like at all stages of life, not try to change and hide it! People are beautifull! Inner beauty is imprtant, obviously, but we need to be able to see the outer beauty in all people, because that is important too!
LMFAO...OMG I just saw this! Dude, I'm not dating Vince Neil! He's the lead singer of my fave band...Motley Crue! Zach is my fiance's name...and yes I do call myself Zach's girl...because I am! I just use the monoker vinceneilsgirl because that's the name I've always used on every message board I've ever been on. Also, defending the choice to get plastic surgery isn't being "uptight" anymore then defending not getting it is. I'm not rich at all btw...my mom and stepdad are wealthy on their own and also come from money. However, they disaprove of my lifestyle. Yes, they paid for me to have surgery on my mouth but only because the accident left me disfigured and made it hard for me to even chew. After the accident, people were shocked by how bad I looked. I almost didn't want to wait to heal before I got the plastic surgery...but I did manage to wait. Yes, I love the results.
I said - that it was ok to get plastic surgery if U had a trauma like u did- and btw -poll this site and see what happens.., most women who are into the natrual, bohemian thing DO NOT GET PLASTIC SURGERY- other than for trauma reasons- u said u were getting more...I am not telling u what to do -but if u start saying ohh- My face looks better since tha accident that really fucked me up- hey self, look at my tits- they could use a lift/ some added size- I'll get this done too- or I want fuller lips instead of the ones I have...that is going out on the limb of;possible vanity, excess and false identity(one that you did not come equipped with in this world)That is not what most or many Hippy mamas, bohemains, natrual women think of doing-plastic surgery 4 fun or because they just want it- We go against that- our hippy lovers do not like it either- they are repulsed by it- (I thought u said your parents were "hippy" -whatever that is to U- but u said they were against your lifestyle- what lifestyle is that?, if u do not mind the inquisition? The hippy one? How could they be if they are really "hippy"?-Another thing, it is none of my business really but if u get an inheritance u are rich from your 'rents and theirs..or will be- Family helps family no matter what family it is...)
this begs the question...."what is a hippy?" I would think that the "hippy culture" would be open to allowing people to do what they want to do(be it drugs or cosmetic surgery). Who defines what the hippy dos and donts are?
Oh boy...my breasts would be the LAST things that would need help. I've been a D cup since I was 12. I meant that I needed to have more done to my mouth. If you actually want to know what I've had done and what else needs to be done....all you have to do is ASK. My parents are hippies, so no they aren't against my being a hippy. However, they are against the fact that I'm going to college. In fact, I had to wait to go until I was 24 so I could take advantage of independent school aid...not that I cared, but them not helping me meant I had to wait until in the eyes of the gov't I was independent from them. Even with me working it wasn't enough to pay for college, so I waited. Anyways, they are against it because their feeling is that since they didn't go to college that I shouldn't have to go. And no, I don't have an inheritance...my parents aren't dead. Far from it...my mom isn't even 50 yet. And you're right MOST hippies don't get plastic surgery....SOME do however. Just like SOME other people get plastic surgery. There is no ALL in this situation. That's fine that you don't want plastic surgery, but I hope you know that A LOT of plastic surgery is actually considered to be reconstructive. As for "family helps family no matter what"...I don't know how it is for your family, but in my family if you "embarass" them in anyway they stop being there for you. In fact, the only reason my parents paid for the surgery is because (even though we live in totally different states) they were embarassed by my looks. Also, they were afraid I'd never be able to lead a normal life if they didn't pay for it...which is true.
