hey, i was wondering....if i rolled a blunt with an unflavored shell (regular phillies or something) would it burn significantly slower if i let it sit in my humidor for a little while (a week or two) before smoking it? of course it would be seperated from my actual cigars to prevent mixing the flavors and aromas, and it wouldnt be left in there TOO too long....but would this be ok for the blunt? i know a humidity level of around 70% is perfect for preserving cigars, but i'd wonder if it might perhaps make the pot too wet to smoke (unlike tobacco) also, cigars are still all in one peice, whereas i'd have to split a phillie down the middle and reseal it with saliva and such before putting it in the humidor...since i always let it dry off a bit first or even gently dry the seal with a lighter before i toke, i'd be afraid sticking it in a humid environment may be enough to undo the seal. other than these two concerns i'd think it was a pretty good idea for making your blunts burn slower without having to double wrap them or put nasty things in them like honey or something...basically it would just allow the pot to regain a slight amount of moisture it lost during drying. most pot you use for blunts is pretty dry anyway, so it could probably use it. in my experience slightly moist (but not wet to the level of a fresh bud) pot tends to be just as tasty and potent, but burns a bit slower. this would allow the pot inside a blunt to fluff up a bit, and not only burn slower because of the moisture but because the pot will take on extra volume and probably make the blunt slightly tighter. anyone who's left a little bit of orange peel in a sack to rehumidify their pot knows that a lot of the time dry buds will fluff up quite a bit and take a little extra space. what do you all think of this idea?
by humidor you mean humidifier? In my experience, moist buds are less harsh on the throat. I suggest putting your weed in the humidifier by itself, then loading up your blunt when it's been in for a while. You'd really have to experiment, though, to see if everything works. Hell, try putting a piece of cigar in there too.
a humidor is a container of some sort (most often a box lined with cedar) which is kept humid and is used for storing cigars. a humidor has an element in it's construction called a humidifier, which regulates the humidity inside the humidor, ideally to a humidity of roughly 70%. it may also contain a hygrometer, which is a gauge to measure the humidity. and by humidor i meant humidor. a humidifier is anything that releases moisture into the air to increase the humidity, whether it's for a room or a humidor or whatever. but you dont generally store anything in a humidifier. this is not mine, but this is pretty much what your average humidor is like
I always kept my buds in my humidor. When I moved I had to leave it behind because I didn't have enough room where I was moving too. As for the prerolled blunt, I can't offer much advice since I rarely ever smoke blunts let alone roll them. However, assuming you let the seal dry even over a lighter before placing it in there It should work and result in a pleasant experience.
thanks, thats just the kind of advice i was looking for and yeah, i very rarely smoke blunts anymore, but it would be nice for a party. hell, i bought some cigars today that i fully intend to keep for several months (at least one will be smoked in june as a celebration smoke on my birthday), and i'm thinking if i rolled a blunt perhaps two weeks in advance and set it in my humidor for that two weeks, it would make for an interesting smoke for my 21st birthday party....
First off, nesta I thought you were like 50 dude you're hella smart man. Haha but um yeah it sounds good to me; 60% seems to be a good level for slowly and smoothly curing bud, so 70% should keep it nice and fresh but keep it from actually curing.
thats the way to be if i can look back on a day and say i learned something or gained at least some little bit of experience however small it may be, i figure it's a worthwhile day in most cases
well i'm putting it to the test with a joint. i have a thin joint of about 1/4g of some pretty good middies (plenty to get me a buzz these days) i wrapped the joint in a thin sheath of cedar that came wrapped around a Carlos Torano 1916 cameroon in order to help the cigar age. cedar is good for helping to regulate humidity as well as imparting a nice taste/aroma to tobacco. i have no idea if it does the same with marijuana, and if it does if it compliments marijuana, but i suppose i'll find out. i'm always up for learning something i didnt know. the cedar is just an afterthought really, and for a period of about a week or so it probably wont affect the joint much, if at all. either way, we'll find out if the moisture negatively or positively effects a joint. if its even a little promising i'll try a blunt next, which might even be more appropriate (i roll thin joints pretty tight compared to my cones or blunts; that alone can be enough to put it out or make it burn a little off...so a poor burn isn't a surefire sign that the pot is too wet in the case of one of my joints, depending on how i've rolled them)
