I'm in so much pain right now that I just wanna cry. And apparently there are no emergency dentists around that are open 24 hours a day so I have to wait til 8am before I can call anywhere and book an emergency appointment. I dunno what to do... I've taken so many painkillers already but they don't seem to help at all. Anyone have any good tricks to remove toothache? Ahhh my whole head feels like it's about to explode!! Bloody teeth...
Poor girl... Go to the store and get some tooth-pain relieving stuff.... it helps for at least 20 minutes at a time... it says not to abuse it, but last time I had some toothache... I abused it and nothing bad happened.
Attach a small string to the tooth in question, and tie the other end around a doorknob. take one step back or until the string is taught, and have someone open the door approximately ten inches - slam door shut Hotwater
Kozmic.. *Hammastani pakottaa??* best thing to relieve it..try to put a piece of clove on the tooth affected..or the Finnish way...have some *salmiakkikossu* no..seriously..try the clove..it will help..ginger as well..chew it.. Tiger
damn, I hate when a tooth gets infected like that. Nothing ever seems to help the pain. I think when i had one I ended up putting cold packs on the side of my face that hurt. I hope you feel better.
i have a huge cavity in my left bottom back tooth...i guess the filling came out a while back and i haven't gotten it fixed or removed. everynow and then, i'll get food stuck in the hole and it'll send pain through my jaw...not fun, hurts much i've used teething gel before for tooth aches...ice packs too
Like old tiger said, try cloves. I used a clove paste once when I had a tooth knocked out and the nerve was exposed. Basically it was just ground up cloves with a little bit of water and I packed it in around the tooth. It helped. Hope you feel better sweetie. {{{Hugs}}}
Thanks guys. I'm off to see a dentist in half an hour... counting the seconds!! Normally I'm scared of dentists but now I really can't wait to go. Make the pain go awaaay...
I'm still waiting to get to the dentist, they didn't have any emergency appointments until 11.30am. So, 50mins still... Boo!!
So it turns out I had some pretty bad infection in the root of one of my teeth and now I need to get a root canal. They started it today and I need to go back next week. Which really really sucks coz I was supposed to fly back to England on Sunday but obviously I can't now. Boo. Last night I thought the toothache was the worst physical pain I've ever experienced. I changed my mind after the dentist started the root canal... Holy crap, I thought I was gonna pass out. Anyone else had a root canal done? It's evil I tells ya!!
I had a root canal done when the nerves of the tooth that I had knocked out became infected. I can't really recall the pain however. I think they had me numbed up pretty good, plus my gumline was so swollen up from the infection there, that it was to the point where anything they did to relieve that pressure from the swelling was a relief. Not to mention the fact that I was around 10 years old at the time, so my memory of the pain could be a little fuzzy.
Haha yea, it's funny what time can do to your memory. My mum was saying that as well, that it doesn't hurt much at all... but she had it done about 20 years ago. I came back home from the dentist and cried like a baby coz it was hurting so much. :&
Ouch. That sounds awful! Did they suggest anything to help relieve the pain, give you a prescription?
They didn't give me any prescriptions, just told me to take some ibuprofen to make the pain go away. It doesn't hurt that much now, mostly it just feels uncomfortable. What hurts is the dent British Airways are trying to make into my bank account for needing to change my flights! But that's another story... I need to shut up and stop whining now. :tongue: It's just one of those days, you know? Anyone else have anything to whine about?
which tooth was it? I've always been blessed with pretty good teeth. I was brushing me teeth even before I could reach the sink.
I've never had any problems with my teeth before, either. I only have one filling and it's actually on the same tooth that is bothering me now. It's one of the ones in the back.
Ouch, that sounds painful. I've, fortunately, never had to have a root canal before... In fact, I haven't had to have too much done to my mouth...I've just had two baby teeth removed when I was seven(?), wisdom teeth removed, and braces. I hope your root canal and everything goes well.
