How did you discover the true size of cows? How big did you think they were were?

Years ago a college boy spent the summer with us here at my place. He spent hours one staring and laughing at cows because he had never seen one before. The cows seemed equally amused for that matter.

I can't think of a much more eloquent illustration of how our "advances" have effectively separated us from comprehending the means of our survival... so dependent on an industry to be able to eat that our concept of what food looks like is limited to its retail packaging and does not include its actual source.

Just what I was thinking, and I find it so disturbing. I am eternally grateful to my parents for living in a rural area so that I could actually see farms and ranches and nature.

well said stink, but i would'nt say it will ever happen that retailers will ever print "contents dead cow! dead pig!, dead sheep!..cos they know to many more people would begin ta think more about the fact that, what they are eating had a beating heart once.they just think no!,bad for bussiness...:2thumbsup:

I thought you said big foot http://www.bfro.net/ . On cows you must remember the cow was bread for milk , and beef . To make a bunch of chese burgers out of a cow it needs to be big . The bigger the cow the more chese burgers . A small puny cow cant make very many chese burgers . desert rat

They are cheeseburgers only if they include melted cheese- and it's the name of the sandwich- otherwise they are called hamburgers.

    Yes.

It's our dependence on an industry in order to be fed that is frightening... in no small part because the prime objective of that industry is to make a profit and not to feed people. otherwise, perfectly good food wouldn't be thrown out because it didn't sell by the coded date on the package..

The milk cows are given lots of hormones so they give a lot of milk . Its passed on to girls and makes there breasts bigger . After thinking on this for a bit the hormones are not that bad an idea . desert rat

I've seen farm animals before but I had remembered them to be smaller then what I saw. I would kill and eat a caff if I was ne'er one it's too delicious not to. I don't care if it had a heart beat or not I'm hungry.
