It was inevitable at some point but now hayfever has caught up with me in a big way. One of a very small handful of disadvantages about summer. Anyone know what is the best thing for it? I bought some cheap tablets today but they don't seem to be very effective. I've heard Clarityn is very effective but it's expensive.
go to the doctors and get the happy pills!!! well, neo clarityn. also get a nasal spray. for your eyes, use eyedrops, or if you are into alternative solutions, euphrasia is really really good!!!!
Close and seal all windows and doors and stay inside all summer! You might get a bit smelly but at least the bastard pollen can't get you!
i do that....i preffer to be hot than have hayfever but i do have some orange squash in the freezer!!! me likeys verdy mucho
Mmmm freezepops made out of Ribenaaaa...(not the ones you buy, homemade ones are the way forward!) I made one in a breakfast bowl. It was huuuuuge! And went melty before I ate it all, but it was still the biggest darn icepop I ever saw!
A lot of the stuff from chemists and big companies and stuff have had a lot of bad effects and are linked to some things like cancer and stuff apparently. You can get really good elderflower tinctures that help a lot... With that, you can take 'eyebright' which stops the itching of your eyes too... HOpe this helps at all if you want to choose the more homeopathic path. Love, Sunny xxx
Most of them are also made by bastard multinational pharmaceutical companies! The only one that works for me is Benadryl. Just have to try several until you find one that works.
Piriton all the way for me... Been using 'em for donkey's years... Only thing that seems to work.. oh, and not going outside much when the pollen count is high. lol
Here in Texas the pollen count is awful so everyone with allergies gets hayfever. I've been a nurse for many yrs but the best thing I've found is local honey. It has to be produced in or around the area you live because the bees pollinate on the weeds and bring it back to the hive. Its a homeopathic reasoning that like cures like. My family takes a teaspoon in am and pm. We never have to use cold medicine and it works.
for all those that hate the idea of modern tablets 'n pills: It has been widely accepted that our bodies are fucked up by the clinical anti-biotic environment we've created. We are symbiotes with many different organisms. We couldn't digest our own food if it was for a bacteria that lives in our gut. Apparently, there is a worm we shouldn't have got rid of too hastily. Some dude in Africa found out that, by having this worm live inside us, it cancels many allergies such as hayfever. So anyone for worms?.... ~
Yeah...the ones I get from the doctors as called Cetirizine...basically the same but a lot cheaper because they're not a brand name....work really well
As Sunny has said, if you'd prefere a natural remedy, try some elderflower. Should certainly sort out a never-ending runny nose. Hayfever is caused by your cells releasing histamine when pollen is inhaled, so try a natural antihistamine like chamomile tea or something. If you're allergic, garlic is good to counteract the reaction
