ime a huge guitar solo fan but in this era of music the guitarists are so boring and they dont do anything interesting. thats why i stick to classic rock. i was wondering whats your fav guitar solo, mine are stairway to heaven by led zeppelin, and sweet child o mine by guns n roses. whats urs?
I really can't choose! Some of Jimi's and Quicksilvers jams are among my favourites though. I love it when the guitar just goes on and on. But to me it's how it's combined with the other instruments what makes it really great. So I guess I just forget which songs contains my favourite solo's I really love the guitar part in 20 buck spin of Pentagram, superb 70's rock, though I wouldn't call it my favourite. Black Sabbath - Warning is also among my favourites for sure! I don't agree about nowadays guitarists are all boring though, are you aware of the first two albums of the Atomic Bitchwax for example? Their selftitled debut is full of intense guitarsolo's! Greenleaf - Revolution rock? Nebula - Smokin woman? Something pretty different but you can't diss what you don't know: Datura - Visions for the celestial? Dead Meadow - Shivering king has some awesome bluesy guitarwork. I could go on, but maybe you did indeed heard this stuff and just didn't like it
Black Sabbath - Planet Caravan would be one of my favorite solos. If you think music is boring nowadays I suggest you look into some early Dream Theater (recent stuff's good but much heavier) I suggest the album Awake. Also there's Liquid Tension Experiment wich is kind of a progressive Hard Rock. I suggest the second album. If you like good solos and rockin' riffs you'll be served.
Planet caravan, sublime song indeed! We sail through endless skies Haha, I guess recommending bands isn't always the right way to convince a music fan who has no hope in todays music. Those two you mentioned aren't of my liking at all!
thanks so much guy. ive been listening to ur suggestions and its not really my style but hey thanks for the reply.
my top favorites would have to be (in no particular order) red house - Hendrix shouldn't have took more than you gave - Dave Manson Alive - Pearl Jam Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin Samba Pa Ti - Santana Dark Star - Gratefull Dead Loan Me a Dime - Allman brothers Band
I love both of those songs, have them on CD, I like "Don't Step On The Grass, Sam" more though. But fact is, "Magic Carpet Ride" is a big trip itself.
A very, VERY small selection of my faves include (in no order other than the first 3): 'Comfortably Numb' - David Gilmour/Pink Floyd 'The Interworld and the New Innocence' - Buckethead/Praxis (live) 'What God Wants(Part 3)' - Jeff Beck/Roger Waters 'Machine Gun' - Jimi Hendrix/Band of Gypsys 'Altitudes' - Jason Becker 'Hollow Years' - John Petrucci/Dream Theater (live) 'Black Star' - Yngwie Malmsteen 'Hell's Kitchen' - John Petrucci/Dream Theater 'Soothsayer' - Buckethead 'Life Without You' - Stevie Ray Vaughan/"" and Double Trouble (live) 'For the Love of God' - Steve Vai 'Layla' - Duane Allman/Derek and the Dominos 'Surfing With The Alien' - Joe Satriani 'All Along the Watchtower' - Jimi Hendrix/The Jimi Hendrix Experience 'Cliffs of Dover' - Eric Johnson 'Cry For You' - Andy Timmons 'Sorrow' - David Gilmour/Pink Floyd (live) 'End of the Beginning' - Michael Lee Firkins/Jason Becker (Becker wrote it, MLF played it) 'Mr. Crowley' - Randy Rhoads/Ozzy Osbourne 'Empty Rooms' - Gary Moore (live) 'Love' - Billy Duffy/The Cult 'Stairway To Heaven' - Jimmy Page/Led Zeppelin 'Free Bird' - Allen Collins/Lynyrd Skynyrd 'September' - Andy Timmons 'Epilogue: For Lisa' - Shawn Lane 'Desert Rose' - Eric Johnson 'Texas Flood' - Stevie Ray Vaughan/"" and Double Trouble (live)
I'll have to go with Fluffhead-Phish circa 1973 eyes of the world-grateful dead November rain & Estranged- Guns and roses
