Best heavy metal of the decade 1999-2009

Forget what the labels want you to buy. Forget the tends and the one-note purist music. Here's a list of the best metal had to offer during the last decade, for real metal fans, by real metal fans!

I wish I had more time to listen to music, 'cause that seems like a pretty solid list (from the bands I've heard of. I get through music very slowly.). I wouldn't agree with World Painted Blood being on there, though.

Gotta say that at first I didn't like Engram, but it's really been a grower for me.

I'm inclined to agree, although I've only heard a fraction of the list so I can barely comment.

Truth be told, I can only stomach extreme metal that I was already into, or the absolute cream of the crop. and even then for only so long.

Ozzy? The guy lip syncs half the time and still needs to read off a teleprompter.....

And Ozzy has never written anything besides.... Well actually he never wrote anything with Sabbath. I'm not sure if he wrote the lyrics with his solo career but he probably had hired people to help him.

I thought he co-wrote lots of stuff with Sabbath? I'm pretty sure he has written lots of his lyrics on the solo albums as well, especially on the first two albums it just seem typical Ozzy lyrics to me.

Geezer wrote about 99% of the lyrics. When I met Heaven & Hell the whole band basically shit over Ozzy. I could tell they didn't even want me to mention him so I changed the subject, there was an awkard silence for a second but then Dio started talking again.

I'll never forget that day :D

My Meet'nGreet pass is never gonna move from above my bed.

The other guys were saying Ozzy did the writing. But according to Geezer and Tony, Ozzy did literally nothing. He helped with song arrangement and that's why the writing credit was given to everyone.

Once Dio joined things changed. Musically and lyric wise.

I think Ozzy was a big inspiration for songs like Paranoid. Most likely Snowblind too :p

Yea' yer' Mom knows allot of people. :p

I just figured that I'd mention something from this decade as the thread was after all titled "Best Heavy Metal of the Decade" but I suppose thinking it was regarding the 00's decade was a bit of an assumption on my part.

But of course, if the decade in question was the 70's then you can go right back to discussing the merit's of Black Sabbath. Darn good stuff for soft metal b.t.w. but heavy 70's, Lemmie is God.

It's supposed to be "best" metal of the decade. I fucking love SLAYER but World Painted Blood was worse than Metallica's Death Magnetic imo.

Although that's not really saying much.
