So I realized I've gained some weight, and even before that I wanted to get fit, and healthier ingeneral. I'm trying to go to my doctor soon, to get an opinion on what exactly I should do.

I think I've gained some weight do to no school, and such, to be honest. So I'm really looking for any advice, mainly on diet, as for exercising, if you know any exercises I can do with only a dumbbell five pounds, or non-weighted, please tell me, including any combinations used to become more aerobic.(Despite the obvious exercises)

I have weights and a bar, but it's my moms boyfriend, and I doubt I can use it, so, I'll plan around it for now. Also, I'm thinking of cutting down on meat, it's getting kinda sickening, more I think about it I don't like it. Only meat I like is..chicken, fish, and such. Deer is alright too, but beef, it just doesn't seem as good anymore.(I stopped eating pork along time ago, also). If anyone has any advice on such a diet, looking more so for vegetarian advice(despite the fact I'll probably still eat some meat, such as fish, chicken, etc)

Most likely I'll be trying to get a job soon as well(money= gym membership, buying my own healthier food?), which'll atleast help stay active, and move around more, as well as go back to a school program.

    Thanks

Some people lose weight when they become vegetarian. Others eat nothing but bread and cheese. Keep the emphasis on the vege part of the equation and you'll see nice changes. Also, you won't lose weight by lifting dumbells, regardless of which direction and how you use them. Go for a run, bike, swim, etc, on a regular basis. Keep the CV system happy.

Oh I know, but weightlifting can boost base metabolism and thus loose weight. Also makes you look healthier ingeneral, I'm not looking to get really muscular or anything though. I'm gonna do some more cardio though, like walking more(I already do it a bit, just need to do it when I have nothing else to do.), bike ride when I get my bike, and jump rope. I just figure nonweighted workouts like pushups and also weightlifting will just help me be healthier.

As for the veggie part, I would go all the way, but I can't ensure I can get vegetables all the time and such, it's based on what my mother buys, but ya, I just don't eat pork, gonna stop beef too, and probably start eating fish and chicken more. I just feel like I won't be able to get all the nutrients I need with just vegetables with my limited supply and knowledge. Plus I do like some meat, but if I eat chicken, fish, and on the very rare occasion, deer too(moms bf hunts once a year or so.), i could see good results health wise, like I would with just vegetarian diets?

I'm going to stop eating all the junk food though, so ya. Such as popcorn and cereal(although some are alright, just needa get the better ones.). I just want to see different people's advice on the diet part.

Thank you for the response though.

Eat less meat. Eat less processed food. Eat more fruit. Eat more vegetables.

    Get more excercise. Any form.

    diet:
get protein. this will curb lean body mass loss. you want to keep muscle
then get your fat. healthy fats. your essential fatty acids. make sure you're getting omega 3s in your diet...easy way is to take fish oil. plus its just good in general.

then you can work in your carb sources.

but it all comes down to calories in vs calories out..to lose weight you need to be in a deficit. so its important to get enough protein to sustain the LBM that you currently have. then make sure your getting omega 3s in your diet. then add in other calories.

    dieting isn't anything magical.

meat is fine - chicken, fish, beef...its all good. eat plenty of green leafy veggies. veggies (minus corn, peas, and carrots, and some other) aren't calorically dense, so eat them to your hearts content because you really won't add much calories. cut the junk food out and you'll be fine. then create a deficit, so you eat less than what you normally do.

Bodyweight work outs are great. you can do lots more than just pushups. lots of progressions. and you can add in cheap homemade products too....like a heavy sandbag...a long PVC pipe filled with water...i really would skip the 5lb weights, unless you're going to use them as somethign similar to shot putting
