    oh that sucks!
my school was like that too, except in summer we had the option of wearing sandals. I usually just slipped my shoes off in class - our uniform policy was only really enforced when we were going out in public and 'representing the school'.

Other than that, i guess you have no choice.. unless you want to change schools.. that'd be dedication to the cause

It's sad you can't even wear open-toed shoes. I never gave it a moments' thought for many years, but now I don't think I could stand closed shoes in summer.

I think it's really weird to wear fake shoes that are just shoe tops with the soles cut off. If I were prohibited from going barefoot, I'd just wear the shoes. I wouldn't try to fake wearing shoes with a pair of cut-up ones. If I'm gonna be barefoot, I'm gonna be barefoot -- not bare-soled.

just wait until you are out of that school and free to do what you want. Go to a liberal college and no one will hassle you about being barefoot.

I think it is cool, I like kids that buck the system. as for track, I ran it barefoot and the coach didn't care

My P.E. teacher in elementary school had the same rule, no tennis shoes and off came your shoes and socks, she inforced this rule for the girls as well as the boys. I even recall some kids staying in their barefeet when we did an activity outside on the school grounds, weather permitting of course. Come to think about it, I'll bet it was really cool running through the grass in your barefeet and at the same time giving your soles a nice shade of green color.

I know at my school, we have 2600+ kids in a series of buildings that can't fit all of us, and it would be a HAZARD walking barefoot in the school. I'm even reluctant wearing my sandles because I get stepped on so much and have ended up with badly bruised feet more than I would like to think about.

my solution to 'no open toed shoes' has always been wear slippers. closed toes. for gym, i just keep sneakers in my locker though. our school's policy, being unprepared for gym 3x = failing.
