that's a little harsh, i think bob geldof had was trying to do some good, but it now they're just doing it for pr, as they so nicely sang
Haha that was great. Its harsh on Bob Geldof, like blindhobosam said. He is sincere and he is obviously very passionate about the cause. The rest are there for PR, well maybe there are a few exceptions- we'll never know.
If I remember correctly the first one had a lot of performers all turning up in fancy limos ... all except for paul Weller who travelled to the studio on a bus
that's class. why dont you ever get 'celebrities' going around on public transport. most of them dont even have enough money to hire limos but somehow they seem to get them. does anyone else really want to own a bus? just actually own it and drive around picking up random people? or is this just me?
I guess they are doing it for PR.. showing starving kids on TV does not work any more... all the people i would say had good intentions .. varying degrees of pompousity Paul weller V Status quo.... but having watched a few documentaries , nothing can be taken away from those taking part.. in fact imho Bob chose artists that had a bit more integrity than most in the business ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band_Aid_(band) I bought 4 copies as xmas cards, does that mean i am going to heaven ?.
I didn't really think it was all that funny, and even though there's an element of truth to it, I don't see that rich artists should be derided for doing a good thing. We complain when they don't do anything, and they get just as much shit for actually doing something. Maybe it is good PR for them, but even if their efforts are just a drop in the ocean, it's still worth it. And some of those stars are genuinely committed to left-wing causes. Chris Martin and Bono do a lot more than most for the world, and have used their fame very constructively. Martin's support of the Peace One Day campaign has my utmost respect....
