Is there a way of finding out why someone was banned short of sending that person a personal email (assuming that they had even set up that feature here)? Someone I was in contact with was banned and he didn't mention the why's or wherefor's.
unless it's a permanent ban, they'll be back in a few days, up to a month it seems like. eventually they can contact you again, probly
dont' ask why people are banned, that's the biggest rule if it happened last night, Duncan, you might want to peek at user support if it's who I think it might be. I'm gonna shush now.
Is this rule about not asking described somewhere, one would think that a "free speech" forum has fair, just, policies ?
Thank You. This doesn't seem like something to worry about. So far, from my view, generally, the people running this site appear fair and appear to unhold what I sense is the spirit of these rules. I am done as well; and not out of any fear because that's not how I live. Peace and thanks again Ihmurria. David
If breaking the forums guidelines and complaining about the banning can get you banned, I can understand that. But what about when a person is unjustly banned? Meaning, they haven't complained about anyone's banning AND they haven't violated the guidelines? One would think that there was a way to right the wrong in this case, wouldn't you think? Unfortunately, they are subject to punishment and cannot do anything to appeal the decision, even if the admin/mod is wrong or did it for a personal reason. Hell, you can't even disagree with the guidelines, even if you follow them, or else you can be banned from the site. So, personal opinion is now being monitored and punished. So, it's best that you don't have any kind of opinion or feeling about this as you will also be banned. Fair? Free speech? You tell me.
BTW, if you'd like to read more about the topic, and where I found that quote, feel free to check here. http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110533 I'm curious as to people's opinions on this. Note, I have not argued about any particular person being banned, nor have I admitted to disagreeing with ANY guidelines in these forums. Just wanted to clear that up in case someone wanted to try to ban me. Thanks.
Seems like the policy might be able to be modified as to be better and to further support free speech. I wonder if people are fearful about posting in this thread ?
Its like that stupid movie about "the ones we dont speak of" I cant remember what its called but reminds me alot of this dictatorship.
This forum is a personal forum. If this was public, then there could be utopic free speech. Yet, Skip owns it, and has imposed guidelines which I see as very fair. Everything in life comes with limits.
skip dosent post nearly enough on his own site. and when he does, he sounds like a robot. why cant he be down to earth makin fun of people and we could crack back n forth on each other like most of the posters here.
oh man free speech my ass! hipforums is trying to keep us down we have to do something about this! first things first crucify rubin!
