Would you rather say new medical research be done on your child? Your mother? There we go that is a far better idea. All the vacines you have benefitted from should have been tested on unwanted babies instead. Simply brilliant.

The prisoners in our prisons should be given the new drugs and they should be reseached. The lifers should be the guinea pigs NOT ANIMALS!!!

I wonder what percentage of animal research testing is for new, lifesaving, previously untested medications for which there is no viable alternative medication and what percentage is for fine tuning dosages, testing of medications for which there are already similar acting drugs on the market, and the non-life saving medications like for toenail fungus, and the percentage of testing that is non pharmaceutical?

There isnt a huge amount of things that can be done to stop it!!!!

Every drug has to be tested

I agree not on animals instead of sending rockets into space to look at other planets find a new way of testing drugs!!

Why test on animals? If drugs are meant for humans, test on humans. They are the real thing, and there wouldn't be any question on how good the drug would react. If you test/give new drugs to something that is not human, then the drug will not have the same reaction. Monkeys are another thing. Drug companies see these as the next best thing to a human. But still the drug has to be tweaked for humans. My point is to TEST ON HUMANS NOT ANIMALS!!!!!!!!!!!

I think animal testing is cruel and should be banned. Those poor little bunnies having to study all night and then when they go into the test, how are they meant to hold their pens? Have you ever tried writing with a pen when you dont have a reversible thumb?
    Ban it!!!

As anyone who has done medical research studies knows. They're always fun, and you get paid for laying in bed all day.

They do test on humans, its just they test on other animals first, that way human lives aren't in danger if the drug is deadly, but before final approval its tested on humans.

Opposable (or maybe ible) thumbs. THATS where I went wrong. Damn this reversible thumb I have.

For real I think its a serious topic, but nothing will put people off caring about something more than a bunch of people seriously demanding a major change in liberties. And that is what it is, a change of liberties of medical, chemical and beauty companies, ultimately resulting in the possiblity of higher prices or even withdrawal of their products.
The best way of making a change in processes would be to refuse to use any and all animal tested products. I am neither for or against this, although I wish some ALF (or other groups) members realised just how many people in this world would die without animal tested products.

If they tested on humans the drug companies could no longer hide the results of the tests, and they'd have to pay liability costs similiar to those the common consumer pays for health insurance currently. Don't think they will go for it. Their CEO and other executives would have to take a cut in pay to offset the additional costs, and that ain't ever going to happen.
