They suck...Really bad... Actually, they're fucking shit. Listen to some real metal, like Between the Buried and Me.
Haha, you had me going for a second there, and then I realized that you must be joking. Honestly, forget everything you've ever heard. Go BUY some Sadus, Watchtower and Kreator albums and then come back. haha.
fuck atreyu pisses me off, because they have a good beat to them in a lot of their songs, but it is ruined by the shittiest "singer" ever...
Man, are you serious? Those bands are just Slayer, but on a less commercial scale and possibly more leather jackets. Just bands based on image, in my opinion. Hate to say it, but Between the Buried and Me are far heavier than those guys.
Yes, they're definitely all image. Do you even know what they look like? What image do they project? Never will metalcore be any more than the musical equivalent to aids infested shit. You can't even compare it to thrash metal, or any other decent musical genre. This includes Metal and Hardcore, when seperated.
I thought almost every band does photoshoots, and almost every metalmusician tries to look angry in those. Look at Megadeth, the king of lame bandphotoshoots, they aren't image-based neither. I don't see how they're creating a special band-image on this pic.
But by looking at that photo you can tell what kind of band they are. Their image is a major part of their band, and also their career as a metal musician. What do you think of when you see them?
Hahahahahahahahahaahahahaha. Someone will be offended by this, but oh well. When I saw that picture, I thought "how gay". It's interesting that you're judging bands based on whether or not you can figure out their musical genre (or sexuality), and not on the quality of their music. I guess everyone has different criteria. Just Say No .. To MALLCORE.
So now wearing leather is supposedly worse than purple shirts and lame facial expressions? Alright. Sure. Comprehension is not a strong suit for you. I did not compare your mallcore band to thrash legends any more than you compared them to atreyu. I said that the aforementioned bands are much better than any mallcore band, which they are. You can continue judging bands based on their appearance. I'll continue judging bands based on their musical qualities. Going by your criteria, you must have loved the backstreet boys. Hell, if you were to see them on the street, you'd never know they were in a band. That must make them pretty cool, huh?
The majority of your argument basis itself on biased opinion, due to your likeness of those bands. All I'm saying is that BtBaM are far more technical in their use of music, and also "heavier", and that their image isn't a critera of them as a band. Unlike alot of 80s metal, which bases itself around the bands image, and how it identifies their own music.
between the mallcore and me are not more technical nor heavier than Sadus, Kreator.. ect, seeing that you've posted that, you're obviously not a musician. Also, a lot of 80s metal is definitely not based around their image, once again, showing your limited knowledge of the matter. By the way, assuming you know the definition of likeness, what does my personal appearance have to do with the matter? I also fail to see how their image has nothing to do with them as a band, as it is their image that you seem to like so much.
Actually, I am a musician, and BtBaM are musically FAR more technical than the likes of Kreator. I'm sorry to say, but it's true. If you can find me a song by either Sadus, or Kreator, that goes from a 4/4 to a 7/8 riff, and also goes into a 13/8 riff, then I shall admit defeat, otherwise it is a fact that they are just open chuggy notes with simple 5ths. Also, please learn to read my posts, because I never made any assumption about your own appearence. Image has EVERYTHING to do with 80s metal, and is as much of a key ingredient as their music.
True, but when you can tell what kind of band they are (metal is very large and diversive genre by the way, so you can't exactly tell by that Kreator pic) by looking at a photo, doesn't mean right away that the band is image-based. I thought image-based bands were bands that got attention and/or their fame rather by the way how they look than by their music. Like hairmetal or Marilyn Manson for example.
No, what I'm saying is that alot of 80s metal bands used their image as much as their music to generate, and conform, to the specific genre of metal. Let's not forget that Kreator, Sadus, and Watchtower are ALL bands from the 80s and thus hair metal would have been a big influence on their image (or vice verser). Watchtower Recent Kreator Image not being a big factor? Come on...Seriously.
