My psychiatrist decided to put me on Ativan and cut down my Risperdal, I've heard Ativan is very addictive but I've had it before and it works on my nerves. I guess what I'm getting at is I'm wondering if there is anything I should be concerned about? My doctor told me I would not get addicted to it.

Moderation is the key. Plus, your psychiatrist knows what he/she is talking about. It is addictive yes, like all benzos, but people take them because they need them. I am guessing you are taking them for panic/anxiety. Deep breathing and other exercises should come first, pills for emergency purposes. Use them as a last resort.

buspar is for anxiety and is not addictive at all. Inquire about it if you're concerned.
