I posted a very similiar thread in the random thoughts thread...and was wondering if anyone else in here, was interested, in helping me with my problem. I have a good friend who is seriously considering going into the armed forces, for several reasons ( can't pass in college, a little trouble with the law, not many other choices to choose from) , and was wondering what everyone thought about joining, or being part of the armed forces. thanks alot
Well for one thing you wouldn't have run the risk of getting sent to Iraq and getting killed.2. You would actually be protecting America by keeping unsavory characters from sneaking in and you'd be helping to keep hard drugs like cocaine and heroin out of the country.3. You'd more than likely would never be forced to kill someone. 4.You'd be helping other people ie..search and rescue...5. Some of the skills learned in the Coast Guard could be carried over into civilian life.6. Being out on the ocean sure beats being stuck out in the desert.7. You wouldn't be doing Bush's dirty work for him. 8. You'd get to see some really beautiful areas of the country. A lot of the US coastal areas are really beautiful... Then again you could get stuck patrolling the Great Lakes in the winter.Brrrrrrr..... btw: The Coast Guard is part of the Armed Forces.
thanks alot.....yeah that sounds better than the stories i have heard about the navy. i appreciate the help.
The good branches like coast guard, and Airforce are harder to get into with bad test scores or a bad criminal record.
If he has had trouble with the law the army is likely the only place he has a chance. I guess unless his test scores are really high. I am not sure on the exact policies they have, but I have known plenty of people with criminal backgrounds that could only get into the army.
yeah but i took the test to the navy with him, when he took it ( im nto going into it, but just took the practice test, while he was taking the real one, for something to do ) and it was real easy, i scored higher than average, and im not that smart.
