Yes, much smarter.

Doesn't necessarily make me a better person and sure as hell doesn't make me a happier person.

We have enough smarties here, much more than you'd find on the street percentage wise. Dumb people usually get weeded out of this forum.

 

I was always great with maths, in high school I thought I was above average intelligence, but I sucked at English

But just cos my brain works better in one way doesnt mean it isnt deficient in other.

Generalizing, but I think girls are better language / word processors than guys

Actually, while it's true people's abilities vary by category, most people who rank above average in one area, also tend to rank above average in others. The measurement of one's ability to use logic and reason can be applied to a wide spectrum of areas of intelligence.

I feel the same way. Although there are people here far more intelligent than I am, largely due to my own laziness. Biologically I think I am very gifted. Most of my closest friends tend to be PhD students and I quit university within a month of my first year.

I'd rather shoot myself in the foot than exclusively socialize with PhDs... but that's just me.

I'm not Laura, these are questions I'm genuinely interested, but I think of it as killing two birds with one stone. If anything, complaining about it just draws more attention to it. I go in chat all the time on here and never post my link or mention my homepage. Other people bring it up.

Agreed. What annoys me the most though is that so many schools will pay more for PhDs and trade in excellent professors for people who look good on paper. One of the best professors I've ever had was recently let go so my university could add one more PhD to their profile.
