Are headshops strict on minors in your area?

I am a minor right now at 15, and about a couple months ago, i decided to take a bus into town and i went into Hemp City.. i was ready for a "GTFO of here!! no minors" but i was met with a "sup?" from the counter man. I walked around the front of the shop for a lil bit looking at the clothes and shit.. then walked in the back.. where the pipes were.. and bought a nice glass piece for $20. The next day i was caught at school with it, and about 3 weeks ago i went to wigwams, and bought a metal piece for $5

my headshops sells anything to minors, exept tobacco

don't really know - i'm not a minor and dont really know any. i think the shops where i live are kind of strict, because it can put their business in jeopardy.

at the very least, they have the requisite signs up saying that you need an ID and that any mention of "anything illegal" will result in no sale.

Pretty sure local headshops around here would sell to most 14 year olds as long as they're willing to drop a lil cash.

The only hassle I ever had at a head shop was... I had a pee test coming up... short on time.. and needed some Clean-X ... I mentioned about having the test and the clerk got all well you can't do that ... that's fraud... and wouldn't sell it to me... what a jack off

 

the headshop by me will let you look around but when you try to get something he asks for id. unless you look young then they will ask when you walk in

 

When I was a minor I ALWAYS went to headshops. Theres are two at a flea market. One sells NICE glass peices, and the other sells more of a variety of smoking stuff, as well as salvia. I was clearly a minor, and they would sell me pipes, bongs, and salvia. I'm sure If I had said something like "I'm 16, can I buy this" than they would say no, but why would I do that? But I'm 19 now, so I really don't give a fuck what minors can buy.

 

Yah at mine you either need to show ID when you enter the store, or at the other one which is a combination hippyish store/headshop once you enter the back where they sell all the pipes and such you need to show ID. Its generally no exceptions and its a very rare occation that I am not (even at 24 yrs old) ID'ed.

 

The headshops around here will only sell to adults. Some headshops around here will let you enter the store if you're a minor, but will only sell to you after you show them your ID upon checkout, while other require ID to even enter the store.

The headshop down the street from here only requires that you be at least 13 to come in the store, and they even have a sign on the door that says "this store is PG-13". haha

 

There good ppl in my local head shop, unless ya know what they do they just look like there selling trinkets. minors not allowed into the pipe section nor to buy anything related to smoking or drugs. They even wait for a minor to leave the shop before selling or talking about there products on offer. But trouble is without asking for id to every young looking person ya can bet one or two slip through the net.

 

I know a few around here that don't really care as long as you buy something.

Not really. One time they immediately asked for my driver's license. But usually if you look older and more confident and you don't act or sound like an idiot or look suspicious, you will be fine. Basically don't worry about being carded, and you won't. If it's a small headshop, look around for a bit and start a conversation (but not about illegal substances lol) with the cashier.

One of the local head shops, Fantasy, is extremely strict with everything. They're pretty anal with terminology - no saying bong or bowl - no cell phone usage, everyone's ID checked. It's pretty lame, but it's the best store around here. The other shop, Somewhere In Time, is smaller with less of a selection, but the owner is usually stoned and is chill as hell.

 

you can't even say "bowl?" and no cell phones? damn, if i was in there and i got a phone call and was told i couldnt use my phone, i'd promtly walk right out and not spend a dime there. and i'm pretty conscious of not using my phone in stores and stuff - i dont wanna be the annoying guy waiting to check out talking on his cell phone.

that's pretty fucking ridiculous. that place is only hurting itself with excess rules like that.

 

Yeah. It's really strict. The owner even kicked out my friend's dad's girlfriend who he's known for about 40 years because she said she needed to buy a bowl. The music section is upstairs. If you want to buy a CD or something, you have to hand it to the clerk upstairs, he marks the inventory in the computer and calls someone from the register upstairs to take it down to the register for you. It's ridiculous bullshit, but it's the only really good head shop on this side of the water (the bay). There are some across the water in Virginia Beach, but that's about a 30 minute drive.

 

well... idk what to say for the poll. Theres one by my house that is a botique store. they sell a bunch of shit incense clothes patches cd's art, ect, and pipes and bongs, hookahs. They dont care how old you are, but you HAVE To be 18 to buy. Ive tried... They say you can pick out a piece and have someone whos 18 buy it for you, you can even come with them.

And theres another store ive heard of, that its strictly pipes and bongs, all smoke related stuff, you HAVE to be 18 to get in... (ok they dont check ID but if they think your underage they will kick you out) my friend got in with her BF becuase shes 17 and hes 20... so if its obvious your not around 18 your not getting in.

Thoes other rules about cell phones and stuff sound like bull shit. I would walk out too...
