Apple wants to control the camera on your phone

The maker of the iPhone wants to patent a sensor that would detect when people are using their phone cameras to do things like film concerts — and give corporations the power to shut them down. This kind of technology would give governments and police the power to stem the flow of videos and crack down on protesters with impunity.

Apple says this new technology was designed to stop concert goers from taking unofficial video at live events. But you can bet that governments, law enforcement and corporations will take full advantage of it in other ways.

Apple has seriously gone downhill. I can't believe I used to be so obsessed about computers and almost worship Apple.

I'll still continue using Macs, and I think they're the best computers, but I'm saying that really casually now. Life's more important than something like what computer you use. Or what digital player or phone you have.

In fact, I'm fed up with modern technology in general, to be honest. People in the 60's didn't have this, and yet it was still an amazing decade. Wish I was alive then. It's frightening thinking of what Big Brother and the media are doing now and could do.

I thought concerts were all about freedom? And what if the concert is never filmed or officially released? There are so many bootleg recordings of concerts that otherwise would never have been heard or even preserved.

Bootlegging a concert with a phone camera is laughable anyway. Absolute LAUGHABLE!!

What made the 60s amazing was that we socialized face to face and we lived outside of our homes. Whereas the people of today spend the majority of their lives inside their homes with virtual friends. Even so, you don't have to return to the 60s, you just need to embrace the spirit of the 60s.

Here is an example:

Summer, the woman I'm seeing, decided today to show me how to wash clothes and save money without hurting the enviroment. I've got an old shell of a hot tub that was leaning up against my barn. We filled it with some water and soap. (Summer makes soap from old ashes) We then threw in the cloaths and got naked. The end result was the clothes got clean, we got clean and we had a damn good time cleaning them.

And as for technology,
For the average person it really comes down to a microwave, cell phone, mp3 player, computer and a flat screen TV.

Whereas,
1) My old car is still faster than most modern ones and looks a lot more cool. (wish I still had a license)

2) Then there is the fact that when a lady friend visits my home and decides to put on some music, she has to bend over with her butt in the air while looking through my vinyl records.

3) I don't have a microwave so that means my meals are "real home cooked meals."

4) And I don't have a cell phone, so no damn bills from a cell phone company talking to people that really don't have anything to say anyway. Beside cell phones cause cancer and are killing off our bee population in the millions. In 5 years or so, we are going to see a food crises like no other because globally, the bees are responsible for 35% of gross food production.

 

So then, Apple is killing bees and keeping the ladies from bending over. (Dude, I think that they do that on purpose) Clue.

Any how, I love may Mac. And I make a living with it. A good living.

Don't have an iPhone. Don't care. Don't want the GPS in the iPhone telling the N.S.A. where I am every minute of everyday. Don't want a snipper to kill me from 1.500 yards away. Don't want to use face book to build my own dossier custom made for the fed to file away. LOLSD

By doing that I do believe that I would be putting some federal employees out of work. We need more jobs right now in our country.

Who are you talking about? I don't know anyone who does this.

You can't just make sweeping generalizations like this, because they aren't true. Most people who actually spend a lot of time on their phone/computer/facebook/whatever are communicating with people they actually know, not 'virtual friends'.

I get what you're trying to say, but you come across as a grumpy old man who can't understand the younger generations.

yes, technology can be bad and people don't think enough about what they're doing. do you honestly think that if this technology was coming out in the 60's, people wouldn't be doing the exact same thing?

technology isn't inherently evil. people are stupid and don't think critically about what they do - this isn't confined to a single generation, this has been a theme throughout human existence.
