Having dreadlocks in a comprehensive school i'm sure to get alot of stick. I just want to know if i'm the only one who gets petty insults! xo
'get a job' 'wash your hair' 'don't come near me, i don't want nits' 'you homeless......' i've had all of these. mostly from mates messing about though...mmm... actually they probably mean it!! i got it more early on, people compliment me now, especailly in the pub when people want to know 'how do you make them, you just stop washing. don't you?' i can think of worse insults! i think mostly its all in jest for me, people don't mean it really.
i think the worse thing that has ever happened to me was at my old college when some guys blaring rap music in their car stopped near me and yelled "Cut your F****** Hair!" i just waved and walked on..lol. everyone else is cool about em^^. my parents make some jokes too, but it's all in love..lol
i usually get "caveman" and remarks that my head looks like a large spider or a dead animal. but it's usually more of a loving joke than an insult.
Bob Marley is a famous one for me lol but um ye i get looks sometimes 18 month natural u kno actually this is the 19th month but ye they still really frizzy but forming anyways people always ask if i wash my hair and when they will become dreadlocks lol I tell them in time thats always my response.
lol.. generally I dont like dreads. But I saw this chick today between lectures and she had like really long dreads that were put up in some sort of bun. the cool thing about them was that they were blonde. I've never seen blonde dreads before they looked pretty sweet.
I showed my grandmother a pic of your dreads to show how good they look without wax and she said that also, but I think yours look cool
i get bob marley alot! and im a girl! I get negative comments from my mum, but i hardly see her so its ok but shes always like "i wish youd brush your hair!" its so frustrating xo
I get called 'Sideshow Bob' by my brother! But it's all in fun--he thinks my 'locks look good. Not too many insults, but I hear lots of questions (most of the usuals). I've also been called 'Putman' by my brother--5 points to anyone who gets the reference! Hint: "Am I the only one who thinks his head looks like an octopus?"
so the other night i was at my uncles house and i work in a restaurant and my aunt said that she wouldnt want her food served to her by someone with dreads because she "knows for a fact" that all dreads are full of bugs and are dirty and disgusting. i wanted to fuckin deck her. i cant stand closed mindedness.
No real insults yet, just joking from the family.. like my dad saying he can't be seen in public with me anymore, haha. All in all, most everyone's pretty good about it so far.
Yo Bob Marley Cut your hair Hey Sideshow Bob Hey Rastafarian Hook us up with some weed You must be stoned Funny thing is that I'm not black (or yellow), I'm not Rastafarian and I don't smoke any weed or do any drugs. Yet I become all of these things because of...my hair
happens bro I smoke bud everyday bud thats not the reason I got my dreads but thats peoples thoughts its all good. People say things but as long as you know whats up who cares.
only thing close to negative i have gotten from the lady checkin books at the library. She is in luv with jamaica n has it stuck in her pea sized brain that dreads mean rasta and she is infatuated with me..I however am done trying to straighten ignoramouses out so i just nod n smile n answer her stupid questions to the best of my knowledge n leave spittin nails ..
Yeah man, exactly. A good saying to keep in mind is: Those that mind don't matter and those that matter don't mind.
