Supposedly they are going to be peaceful, but I'm a little leary. J wants us to go, but I'm a little nervous. Of course I absolutely agree with the protest, I'm just afraid of things going sour and it turning into a mess. There are a lot of angry people out there right now. Anybody planning on going to one?
Count Me In...... Cheers Glen. EDIT.:....Just Looked Up "Tea Party" On Urban Dic. 10 Diff Deff's......??
Hell, no. 61% of Americans think their income taxes are "about right". Cutting taxes, by itself, is not the answer. Better to come up with a real plan for America. http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2009_04/017736.php
Haven't Had An Earl Grey In 10 Years.. Nowdays, Make Mine A Freshly Ground Coffee, If You Please. Or A Glass,(or 10....) Of Champagne Olde Chap... Here's To The "Mother Country"...:cheers2:.....(bottoms up). Cheers Glen.
They're even saying we should bring a tea bag as symbolism to the Boston Tea Party. I don't know, this place (as in, America) is in a mess, but I don't think this protest is going to change much of that.
Why Not Just Turn Your Back On The Whole Mess.... And Join RessotaspiksMan And Myself, In A Glass (or 20.) Of Champagne. Tis No Prob, The Three Of Us Couldn't Fix... Cheers Glen.
Mmm, champagne sounds really good. I bet after a good bottle I'd forget about the whole mess, at least, temporarily.
im on enough watch lists as it is. i wouldnt wanna fuck with their heads and wind up on a right wing watch list as well. would probably cause their computer system to crash when it cross referenced rainbow with tea party..lol
I'm going! This be my first rally/protest and I'm excited about participating. It's not just about income taxes, it's also to voice our opinion about wasteful government spending and where our tax dollars are going.
i am interested to see how the media covers this. there are over 500 events listed on the google maps list. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=U...7114938790.0004647d9f61bab744fd4&ll=38.272689 from the boards i frequent other than here i expect a nationwide turnout of well over a million people. i hear acorn has plans of counter protesting in several cities. that could get interesting. there is no doubt that at some point there will be agent provocateurs inciting discourse within this movement. out of chaos comes order.
i think that is the major emphasis to this movement. not only a fair tax system but to hold our government accountable for how they spend our money..
most of them are after working hours this time. well for the 9 to 5 crowd. are you sure the one in your area isnt on your schedule? dont you wanna be on a watch list ??
Yeah, there's several scheduled in my area. I'm betting there's going to be a pretty good turnout too.
Alright, where would you cut? Farm subsidies, space program, military? It pisses me off that when Republicans get a chance to cut spending they immediately go after stuff that actually helps people (food stamps, for instance) instead of, for instance, the manned space program which is just a rip-off.
i'd cut food stamps, i'd cut welfare. i'd cut all subsidies. i'd cut space funding. i'd cut pretty much everything.
