I don't like him... my dad knows him, though. My dad was friends with a dude who went to high school with him and they hung out with bruce springsteen. I don't like Bruce Springsteen much.... but I like his drummer Max Weinburg.
I don't like him much either. It's rather ironic; he's seen as the symbol and fighter for the "working stiff" of America, yet he's never had a "real" job in his life. Another amusing conundrum about Bruce; the "Born in the USA" is often used, or seen, as sort of a "Woo! Let's be Patriots!" Anthem. But listen to the lyrics, and it's really not that at ALL.
I know... that's why I brought that up. I'm always pissed when it's like "oooh.. conan's on" and then I go "where's max"... and then there's like... this dude on there filling in. Like the barefoot dude who played the bass drum barefoot. But I mean... between the three (Max, Jimmy, and Conan), all three of them have to be there for it to be a good show. I don't know why. It just doesn't feel like Late night without them.
like most bands, i find he has maybe 2 really good rockin' songs per album. and since he has so many albums, he has many great hits. talented songwriter, muchos respect for the boss. you're missing: Shirts in the closet, shoes in the hall Mama's in the kitchen, baby and all Everything is everything Everything is everything But you're missing Coffee cups on the counter, jackets on the chair Papers on the doorstep, but you're not there Everything is everything Everything is everything But you're missing Pictures on the nightstand, TV's on in the den Your house is waiting, your house is waiting For you to walk in, for you to walk in But you're missing, when I shut out the lights You're missing, when I close my eyes You're missing, when I see the sun rise You're missing Children are asking if it's alright Will you be in our arms tonight? Morning is morning, the evening falls I got Too much room in my bed, to many phone calls How's everything, everything? Everything, everything You're missing, you're missing God's drifting in heaven, devil's in the mailbox I got dust on my shoes, nothing but teardrops
I have heard few.... but The Ghost of Tom Joad (after you actually read "The Grapes of Warth") is wonderful. The Streets of Philadelphia is one of my all time favorite songs.
I think they're pretty good actually. There is someone else on the forums that should be here though...
Springsteen is great, but I don't know too many who are younger than maybe 30 who are really into his music. He has written more songs than most realize. the working man is his 'schtick', and it works for him. If you have ever been to one of his concerts, you'd know how hard he works. He puts on one HELLUVA show. I'll admit his music is an acquired taste, though.
I like the early stuff; from Asbury Park to Darkness On The Edge Of Town. Here's a funny Springsteen Joke... What Do Fans say when they see Bruce Springsteen? BRUCE!!!! What Do Fans say when they see Max Weinberg, the E Street Drummer? Hey, who's that guy with BRUCE?!?!?!?!
I'm listenign to him right now. Been a fan since the age of...umm...14 or 15, I think. Been to see him live once (Bercy, Paris, October 14th 2002). I am also the self-proclaimed Bruce trivia champion of the Hipforums. And yes, he does stink, but it's an erotic odour. A heady mix of real ale and cheese. Excuse me, I need a cold shower now...
my mom is crazy about, him that is all she listens to, lol she has every concert ticket on the wall , all these pictures, i was wondering what you throught of him
