In july and august I've picked them in NC.

Later in the summer after a big rain you should try your luck in Va.

    No.

    P. cubensis is the only one I know well, amd it's too dry in ariz for them.

southeast TN is starting to pick up now pretty heavy. I have a 3 acre field that gives about a ounce (dried) every few days. (assuming average rain) P. cubes is the only strain I have found though, except for a Amanita muscaria I found once.

This post got me hot to find some shrooms tonight, so I did a little night smoke ride and stopped on my field on the way. No flashlight led me to only find these 2 by the moonlight, but I didn't even cross over the fence so I know they are out there, just waiting for me, while I wait on them... and daylight.

    P. cubensis- no, not near hot enough.

    But others...

    Growing on wood or grass...

I don't know, and my books are old, but I'd look into it if I were you. try Panaeolus, Psilocybe, and Conocybe, among others species. Try the 'shroomery for names of possibles, and then reseach them at a straight site and learn to take a spore print (simple).

Also, you can likely find Aminita Muscaria- quite unmistakeable- but a different drug TOTALLY UNLIKE psilocybin. Research the history and effects before deciding to do it. They're the alice in wonder mushrooms- red with white spots- and are known to grow as far north as siberia.

It's a trip I never chosen to take- so far, anyway.

the active hallucinogenic in amanita's are extremely toxic...that shit can kill you.

just grow your own shrooms, it's relatively easy, if you can keep everything sterile. not to mention the many more strains you have access too.

The yield is great here in South Carolina, especially for a guy that lives on a beef cattle farm. I didn't go tonight but my friends were over and picked from five of the eight fields. N said they had right at twenty two pounds wet. That is the best yield we have ever had! All cubes, and most were pretty big from the way he talked. I always get a half pound about from each person that picks if people come over, plus what I find for myself. They had six peeps over last night, and my bags of "good shit" (pun intended) are waiting in my shed for me. I am making a hell of a lot of tea from this stuff then freezing it in bottles since we got so much. All my tripping friends have a new obsession with shroom tea, they say it hits faster and better. I have only done chocolates and fresh ones on food and shit that covers the taste. I was thinking of making the tea, and taking some "bottled water" to all the back to college parties this fall for my good friends and hookups that I haven't seen all summer. If these things turn out good, I am gonna quit wasting money on possibly bunk acid and do shrooms and Heavenly blue half and half. We got the ether LSA extraction process down PAT with morning glory thanks to a clever conversation with my retired chemistry teacher to get a hookup for the right kind of ether. It is SO great not to have to eat more seeds than necessary so you can get tripping before you puke a few times. I just can't handle MG grounds.....

Just got back from the house to check out the crop... 17 pounds and 5 ounces wet in total. I kept about three pounds for myself for the tea experiment next week. I also have a couple of unknown fungi I will post pics of here and at shroomery in a bit. Need an ID on them, so I will get back on what they are. One is some kind I see a lot of but haven't yet picked, the other just came up everywhere all over the fields all of a sudden, in most every pile. I haven't seen it before that I can remember but I will see what it is. Definitely not an edible I am sure but I like to learn about shit. Anyway, checked everything, all we got in the crop is cubenses, that's all we ever pick usually cause that is what we know the best of in what's around here. They are pretty easy to spot and no close poisonous lookalikes that I've found growing in the area. An older guy I know from the place I work took me shroomin for the first time a couple months ago, and showed me cubies, he said that was the only safe thing to look for in this region. He was on acid about twice a week from about 1975-1995, and did shrooms all the time. He and his friends were pretty poor so they shroomed alot. I figure he's been around enough to know his fungus, and he isn't dead yet, and never been sick from shrooms that he knew of.
