Hiya guys. I just had a quick question. A couple days ago my friend and I got our hands on two 12" San Pedro cuttings and followed this extraction method to the T. We drank our horrid drinks and waited for effects but never got anything. Can anyone offer any insight onto why we never tripped? It was definitely San Pedro and I was sure to carefully follow all the steps in the preparation yet...nada. Thanks
plants are variable, so it could of just been weaker. 12" pedro may not be enough. consistent species are L. williamsii and T. bridgesii it seems.
sounds like a weak cutting of san pedro. sometimes it takes up to 2 feet to feel anything. bridgesii or peruvianus might do you better next time.
Unfortunately (it seems), when it comes to many plants such as cacti or ayahuasca you will not always get the effects to want or expect; it's up to the plant whether or not you need or are ready for the trip. That's why many psychedelic plants can't be simply recreational like lsd and certain chemical drugs- it's not a guaranteed high! Absolutely try again and if it comes, it comes
one foot is not very much when it comes to San Pedro. I have always needed at least 2 feet to get a light trip. Also next time keep the cuttings in the dark for a while before you do anything. That should encourage the production of more of the chemicals you want.
Right on, thanks a lot for the tips guys. If any of you have used this method, about how much should I be expecting to strain out? The prep refers to it as a "shot" but we got about 6 ounces each.
The dried powdered skins are used to make a citric tea. 28g or 1oz of skin powder is equal to a 1ft length of cactus. So a dose of 28g-56g will be sufficient. A tea using lemon juice or vitamin c powder and distilled water. 50ml lemon juice per 100ml water or 3g of vitamin c powder per 200ml. The SP powder and solution are simmered for 20min. The mixture is then filtered through a mesh strainer and the pulp returned to the pot with fresh solution. Cook 3x. Mix all 3 cooks together and repeat straining through clean fine mesh until all excess sediment is removed. Reduce on low heat to a desired volume. A concentrate can be made if using vitamin c powder. The extract is evaporated on a large glass baking dish in an oven at 150F. Allow cactus goo to dry in the sun or at room temp. Mist a little with a spray bottle of water to help scrape the dried goo off the dish. Pile goo and continue to let the goo dry at room temp or in the sun. After a week the goo will be dry enough to powder in a coffee grinder. Mix extract powder with vegetable juice to consume and chase with water.
keep in mind sizes are not all that accurate. a foot cutting could weigh anywhere in the 50-400gram range fresh. and much is water, which is why dry weights are often considered far more accurate. if you have the time next time, try slicing it up and drying it, and go from there.
