Are they gone ?!?.....Yesterday me and a few thousand (?) others spent the day caught up in a whirllwind called Anonymus... It was a wild ride.. In they came like true locust decending, with their "butthurt faggetry" (their words not mine) tearing into eachother as they chomped their way through the forums.. I think Skip and the members of HF handled it very well. I would like to commend the Mods, ie: (drumminmama) for being on the spot and spending her day cleaning up their mess as it spilled out into the forums. It show that we are a community and we are united in our own dysfunctonal way.. I know I was prepared for battle as many others were as we waited for the right moment, but Skip stood strong and kept his cool.... I guess it was a form of pride I felt.. I know were aren't suppose to be pridefull, but this was kinda different.. It may have been the recomformation that we as a culture has and will survive what ever destiny throws at us.. It also made me feel good to know.. even in our own disagreements and flamefests.. we are not as bad as they are They tout to have 9000, But I wonder if they looked at our numbers and that is just a fraction of how many of us there really are, and how long we have traveled our road. I just wanted to say.. Way To Go Hip Forums :cheers2: sh
I agree SF, I give Skip especially, and all mods serious props for their efforts and abilities to remain cool under pressure... :cheers2: in our own fucked up way, this is one strong community!
I'm tempted to post up a complete analysis of their activities here, but it would ultimately be pointless, since they were completely blind to our message. They are too obsessed with their own little cult. And it's not Scientology, but Chanology that is their cult. Please do not judge Anonymous based upon this sub-sub-sub group. Many Anonymous want nothing to do with them apparently. Anyone can claim to be anonymous, and it seems a number of trolls have latched on to their group. I would praise them for their tolerance of these trolls, but they are very intolerant in other ways (intolerant of Scientology for one). There were some very good ppl in that group. Many were messaging me during their stay, explaining the phenomenon and warning me what would happen. But they have infiltrators who are out to sabotage their actions. That is what kills every movement - the failure to identify and deal with those inside who are acting against the movement. They offered up way too many excuses for their trolls. In fact I spent so much time dealing with their trolls and their cesspool, I had no time to read their informative posts. Too bad cause that shit was interesting. I've even praised them for their media success, but then again, this Chanology subgroup (and only some of them came over), probably doesn't deserve credit due Anonymous itself. When I confronted them, they just panicked and ran, but not b4 posting pages and pages insulting me, you and the website! That and the spamming of our other forums was what got their forums pulled down, otherwise they'd still be there. Their trolls did them in, and they don't want to admit it. Thanks to Drumminmama and the mods for their quick actions limiting the damage to the site.
i already said this in another thread but i feel its worthy of repeating.. skip i just want to applaud your brilliance in handling the matter you did a fantastic job! also id like to give props to the moderators who undoubtedly worked there asses off while they were here.. you guys did a great job!!
i'm still confused. i mean, i saw a couple of them in RT but i just dont really know what people are talking about. i'm on here just about every day. and i haven't seen a single thread started by one of them, haven't seen them overrunning the place, and haven't seen them posting outrageous shit that people seemed to be getting upset about. where were they? i just am totally in the dark about what was going on, i guess
i disagree. i think random thoughts is probably the most normal forum out there. we just talk about whatever comes up. sometimes tease each other for whatever reasons, but usually nothing too cruel. you know - like friends do in real life. i don't get why everyone thinks RT is so "warped" or "twisted" or whatever... and i think this forum in particular seems to have more in common with your average "joe sixpack" than most others. i mean, take a look at the barefoot forum, the young hippies, and so on....i think its the other way round....we're probably judged inaccurately based on them.... but its just a thought:cheers2:
I am very proud that no one from hip forums appeared to attack any of them , not in any way I seen , and that say's a lot for a huge board like this. Skip , and the mods , they seem to be a wonderful influence on the rest of us , and it just shows that a group Does need some rules by which to go by , and that it isnt a restriction of anyones freedom. Yall were just wonderful !!
people are forever getting their feelings hurt when they stumble in here unawares. 'i thought this was a hippie forum" whey cry. well, the rest of it is.
Their forums have been removed from view. You can thank the mods just as HHB has for that. That is what separates hipforums from other places. We have GREAT mods!
Newbies need to LURK MOAR... Oh no! The meme is spreading! Actually what I'd like to do is setup a forum for new memes. We could practice spreading memes thru the Hip Forums and see what catches on, then take those to the greater community. We are already doing that, but to do it consciously as Anonymous does, would be an interesting social experiment. Indeed that's what Anonymous ultimately is, an experiment in Social Networking. So don't mistake the experiment for this sub-subgroup that came thru here. The experiment IS THE MESSAGE we need to absorb. Spreading memes via the Internet is where it's at. Those groups who can do this will gain great power and influence in the near future. Unfortunately Anonymous is way too focused on a single, debatable target. But the lesson is there for us to learn...
A linguistic construt that embodies a cultural known, although not necessarily in a manner that is conveyed by the literal meaning of the word. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme The anon subculture if full of memes which they use as almost a different language, more than slang... But memes also exist in all cultures.
