Anonymous has declared war on the US government. They are not calling for any attacks on US gov't websites. Instead they are calling people "to arms", whatever that might mean. Apparently the US has already declared war on Anonymous with the recent legislation declaring Anonymous to be a "leaderless terrorist group".

What will happen next, I wonder?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAaCZWQndqA"]Anonymous: Operation V - YouTube

    Transcript:

To the Citizens of the United States and the United States Government.
    We are Anonymous.

In the past few months, our collective has been organizing the operation known as Operation Blackout. Part of the operation's purpose was to alert the people of the coming bill that was to be called the Stop Online Piracy Act.

This Act would give Congress the power to censor any internet website they wish without consent from the Citizens of the United States. This act would've also had the power to jail any person who infringed on its new copyright law for an equivalence of five years. This copyright law would've had the power to destroy social networking sites such as Facebook and YouTube. Video gameplay and free movies would cease to exist.

However, Operation Blackout was a success. As a collective, we've managed to spread the word and alert the masses. Internet giants such as Google, Wikipedia, and Reddit became hand-in-hand with us as we all managed to make an impact on the decisions of our, "free government". But as we've seen with Megaupload, the government may not need a bill to be passed to get their way. Other operations we've conducted over this time period have awaken the people to the nightmare that is the United States Government. Sections 1031 and 1032 of the National Defense Authorization Act have been ratified. Yet we face new threats.

The United States Government is seeking to pass the Cyber Security Act of 2012. This act is as Orwellian as it sounds; it will endanger our collective and we will not stand by and watch while this government of lies prepares to take away our freedoms. The National Security Agency insists on labeling us as a leaderless, terrorist organization. The question is, "who do we terrorize?". Can it possibly be that the United States government is truly scared of us? Nevertheless, The time for action is now.

Our collective has realized, along with many United States citizens, that the current government is no longer functional. Our economy is unstable, our representatives uncooperative, and our system, destroyed.

We are not calling upon the collective to deface or use a distributed denial of service attack on a United States government agency website or affiliate. We are not calling upon the people to occupy a city or protest in front of a local building. This has not brought on us any legislative change or alternate law. It has only brought us bloodshed and false criticism. For the last 12 years, voting was useless. Corporations and lobbyists are the true leaders of this country and are the ones with the power to control our lives. To rebuild our government, we must first destroy it.

Our time for democracy is here.
Our time for real change is here.
This is America's time, to have its own revolution.

Therefore, Anonymous has decided to openly declare war on the United States government. This is a call to arms. We call upon the Citizens of the United States to stand beside us in overthrowing this corrupted body and call upon a new era. Our allegiance is to the American people, because they are us, and we are them.

    Operation V, engaged.

    We are Anonymous.
    We are Americans.
    We never Forgive.
    We never Forget.
To the United States government, it's too late to expect us.

    REVOLUTION is here.

May nothing but peace, positivity and blessings result from this war. I wish the best of luck to Anon in overthrowing corruption.

I'm not sure how Anonymous might react to your blessing. I think the message was an open invitation. I think that a part of the problem is that we've collectively been lulled into expecting others to do what is essentially our work. It seems to me to be a call to arms so to speak so while your reply says some very nice things it doesn't really reflect having read the post beyond responding to the discussion title.

I agree, it's a little early. But i think this was made to just get people off their asses and show them that Anonymous can only do so much.

Perhaps, since there is an implicit invitation for our involvement we could involve ourselves in discussing the possible "whats" including advantages and drawbacks to proposed strategies.

I'd say that since it is the economy that is being used against us- in part to divide then it can be discussed as a central component to a counter strategy in a war that is already being waged against us by those who spend so many millions to convince us that they are looking out for us.

Nah, the time is now! Maybe not "right now" but in the very near future. Things are bad enough. It's just gonna get worse if we don't stand up. This could be a real good decision.

The sad part is that even if people do try to take any kind of a stand, most americans aren't going to do anything because the tv didn't tell them to.
So, to any anonymous people out there, if you want to make a real difference, take out media. Then people might start to think for them selves.
But I still wouldn't count on it.

So they arrested 25 ppl who had no connection to each other, but attempted dDoS attacks. And for every one person who gets arrested, two more take their place!

They cannot defeat this global movement.

They should be happy it's only websites they're attacking.

Just imagine if Anonymous distributed more harmful scripts...

And remember folks, Anonymous never forgives, and never forgets...

Here's why I think it's too early. Too many people are still ambivalent with regard to their opinion of this movement. Some will always be against them, but I suspect that anonymous supporters and those who are still ambivalent about them would definitely make a vast majority. I think the opportunity still exists for anonymous to win over those who aren't sure, but are willing to listen, in a big way.

I don't want to see something done in the name of anonymous that would doom them to eternal infamy, like the weathermen (there's two red flag words for the DHS crawlers lol). The reason the media hasn't been able to completely destroy and mischaracterize the Occupy movement or Wikileaks or Anon, is because these groups clearly maintain the moral high ground and any negative press they receive only serves to draw attention to their message, which is undeniably moral logical and correct. Hackers don't do any real harm in the minds of the common people (oops there's three) Why do you think the media has tried their best to label them terrorists?

Non-violence is the key. Continue to embarrass the fuck out of the elites. Harass them. Make them live in fear of their own skeletons in the closets. In other words - anonymous needs to keep doing exactly what they're doing - because it's working. The elites will over react and the common people will see and smell that fear and understand what that means. The ambivalent will see. The sleepers will wake up. When the mindless sheep become mindful and aware - they will join the revolution, when the majority is ours and no amount of propaganda and misdirection will undermine it. When the majority is firmly established, then it's time for bloody revolution.

Well, as far as I know "Black March" isn't run by Anonymous...

And this is only the start, so the timing may not be so off...
