I think its rediculous that we retard the growth of animals so they permanently act as an infant, tear them away from there mothers adn cage them up. The only time we get them out is when WE are bored, we get it all excited to play then get bored and put it back in the cage. We expect it to live to human standards, constantly trying to program them. Its rediculous that we tear kittens and puppies from there mothers and sell them in stores for the entertainent of little kids, who will play god with another living being, tossing there bodies around like rag dolls. all with this notion that some god put these creatures on earth for our satisfaction. Its rediculous that "animal lovers" live in the wild and not the city. pushing nature, further and further back. we constantly visit the wild, even though some day a human is gonna come off the wrong way on an animal that WILL attack when frightend, and everyoen will go on a wild hunt through the woods for this supposed "rabid beast", where theyre even more inclined to intrude on animal territory and get attacked. if you wanna help, stay in the city, unless youre growing crops, but your farm doesnt have to be too far from the city.
Our bunnies get free run of this house, except at night, when they willingly go into a very large double floored pen (full of toys, tunnels, toilets, stimulation, a variety of foods etcuntil we wake) If they werent living in here in this way, theyd most probably be kept by someone less caring, or killed, or abused or used in a laboratory or something like that I see your point and agree totally...creatures being treated the way you describe is just awful. We rescued our bunnies and hate to think of them in pet shops taken by some little kid and then forgotten about a month later, shoved in a tiny pen in a shed. We know how intelligent they are, and its VERY intelligent indeed. Theyre underestimated creatures and im guessing most animals are. One of our girls, who died today ( ) was rescued from a situation just like you describe...she was left out in the cold, neglected, forgotten about, in need of medical care I guess overall i agree with your post and its a bad situation (except the last bit which i didnt quite get) BUT you cant clump all animal lovers and people with animal companions into one catagory. Some of us are doing immense good. I feel its important to highlight that and always keep it in mind...and i suspect the people on this forum are all that kind of person, or they wouldnt be here
I have a cat, I got him when he was a kitten, he was at the petstore from the spca because he was adbandoned and found. My cat leaves when he wants, and he comes back when he wants. We feed him, brush him and take care of him if he is sick or hurt....and your saying this is a bad thing? If he was left on the streets when he was a kitten, he probally would have died. (maybe he is just pissed because his parents won't let him get a pet.....)
I'm saying I'm sick of hearing people getting animals as "pets", normally putting it as "for the kids" or just for themselves for fun. I'm sick of seeing people scolding dogs and trying to train them to live to our customs. I'm sick of animated films using animals as characters so that the death of a character can be a little more dramatic, and still be used in a child film. I'm tired of all the downgrading of animals. A cat dies, you bury him/her in the backyard, or throw him/her in the woods. A human dies, we bury him/her in a space that is as large as some peoples houses. If somethings is even seen as a threat, just for being there, they are shot. Something is a problem, shoot it. Something doesn't have a human do scold it, and dominate it, its as good as dead. We neuter animals so that they aren't "crawling all over the place" but aren't we crawling all over the place and destroying EVERYTHING. If anyones to be neutered its one who is definetly going to be a horrible parent. And what REALLY pisses me off, is whats going on in Alaska. the board of hunting is shooting hundreds of wolves from airplanes to raise elk populations, so they can kill more elk. and why cant they expand cities instead of having every one have bigger houses they dont need, spread out all over the place.
Oh, but about neutering? I think it genuinely was best for our bunnies. There are so so many unwanted, and you never know...i dont want to agreivate the problem But the thing is, youre still right. Its just neither human animals nor others should be "crawling about the place"...us human people need to stop mindlessly breeding (i mean the people who dont even WANT kids, who arent educated in any way and who dont even care about themselves, elt alone their horde of kids) too, and take more control! And prevent the breeding of "pet" animals. Wild animal populations arent a problem and should be left the hell alone. I despise the "hunter" as much as you Anyway, good post I liked
i dont like pet stores or hunters either, but i got my cats at a shelter. their parents either abandoned them or died and so we took them in. 2 of them. i let them outside sometimes, i just dont want him to be an outdoor cat. outdoor cats have an average lifespan of 2 years. they get hit by cars. i want my cat to have a long comfortable life. i play with him, pet him, and give him treats all the time. but i agree that the way some people mistreat animals are bad, but not all pet owners are like that
