Mmm, just got a craving for Namibia.
Although I've never lived like that, I've spent a good few weeks out in the nothingness with my dad and fuckin' loved it. I'd love to escape routine like that, but not yet ;)
Definitely going camping tomorrow though, fuck the cold.

Watched it and quite enjoyed it, although the presenter really annoyed me. The subject matter was really interesting, but I think someone else wouldve done it better....he was terrible.

Watched it and have to agree with you on that. Overall it was pretty good though. Watched "Off The Grid: Life on the Mesa" wow... umm yea, nnot sure about that one, it was interesting but was more about the social/psychology and illness(es) going on there. Not a place I would want to live.

    peace

yeah gotta be careful if ya ever hit the road.. lot of people with serious issues out there.. a lot of folks out there today are on the road not out of choice but rather have no other choice.. mentally disabled.. criminals.. folks who lost it all.. the list goes on and on.. you should carry a gun or at least bear mace

I've done some road traveling, and not always by choice but usually. Perhaps I have just been lucky, but have mostly had good experiences (so far). I agree tho, there can be some scarey people out there. I stay out of Cities, travel cross country. small to mid sized towns. I carry protection. Not a gun or anything like that tho. I think alot of it is presence and attitude, know what to avoid and what areas to avoid and you stay away from those sort of situations.

I've never been afraid to stop a police officer and ask questions and inquire as to a safe place to camp for the night when all else fails. More often than not they are pretty cooperative and have some sort of advice to offer or information as to a safe place to camp for the night and they usually stop by to check in on me. Often times they will recommend a church or someone that can help you out for the night. I've also found that fire dept are usually pretty helpful to.

Usually the only trouble I have is from younger people, the occasional bottles or cans thrown as they drive by. As Always, my number 1 rule, always be aware of my surroundings and trust my gut instincts as to what is safe and what is not safe.

    patiently waiting for warmer weather!
