I just wonder how many people here actually know who she is, or what she did??? or where she was from?? without googling it.......???
she was the first woman to fly aroun teh world but her plane tragiacally crashed. I did a report on her once and i cant remember much more than that. wow...
she was the first to fly across the atlantic....... she was everything that lindy (charles lindberg) was, but she was a woman. which was alot to say for the 20s and 30s. she would have been the first to fly around the world, but her plane crashed somewhere in the pacific. of course, for me, growing up in kansas schools, I learned alot about her....... she was from atchison kansas. (theres a bridge over the missouri river named after her)
I would be disappointed in America's public school system if at least half of the americans online over the age of 12 DIDNT know who she was. Oh wait, I already am disappointed in americas public school system, nevermind
thats why I thought I would ask..... I would be shocked and appalled if anyone here didnt know who she was
I've never really found her particularly interesting, but I've seen a number of documentaries on her over the years starting with In Search Of, to A&E, The Discovery Channel, and the History Channel. I might be wrong but her behavior from her early childhood to adulthood bespeaks of a closet lesbian :H Hotwater
i know a lot, but i just watched a show on her on the history channel or something. good evidence for her having been captured and imprisoned by the japanese or some such stuff after getting lost. and that she was not exactly a great pilot. 'course, that could just be historical misogyny.
