I'm only 16 years old, but I loveeee Bob Dylan, and most people my age just can't seem to appreciate his music like I do. Is there anybody out there that can relate???????
I went to see Dylan when i was 14 and i loved it(except for the tick in my leg, but thats another story)
Actually, the teenagers I know that know Bob's music do appreciate it very much. I can't remember a lot of people who know his stuff and don't like it, allthough there are quite a few teenagers that don't know his music quite but still claim they don't appreciate it, for reasons like because it's old stuff, not heavy, whiny etc.
my son, 15, asked for Dylan to be his first paid concert (he grew up around festies and sneaking into bar shows as the merch kid) at age 9. SInce I was braced for some horrid pop shlock, I said yes immediately. The show was the night after we got back from High Sierra, so he'd seen a lot of music in five days. Dylan and Phil Lesh were co-bills, and this show was a Bob first night. He's into metal now but still loves Dylan. and some Dead. btw, he took my avatar pic at that High Sierra. My brother took the sig pic two years later.
I don't know any other teenager that does but I do. They all complain about his voice. In The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test, he described his music as "raunchy", which is why I think a lot of people don't like it. Today all music is very smooth and (I want to say...) sleek, and his music is definatley not. Anyways, yeah, I'm the only person I know, including adults. Which sucks, because I wanted to go to his concert, but no one would go with me.
I adore him, i have like 2 friends who like him too, but where i live, i highly doubt he would ever come and play
I really love Bob Dylan's songs...they are awesome...I don't really know anybody who apreciates his music except my mother...I think the main reason why teenagers don't really like him is cause they haven't heard of him, or if they have, they think it's not cool to listen to a person who used to be so damn popular in the 60s and 70s. They just ignore his music. Same happens to Grateful Dead, Hendrix, Joplin, Joni Mitchell, and so on...I don't know anybody who likes this music...
oh i love me some bob. i saw him at jazzfest '06. and i was completely blown away. i mean, i've always loved him. but to see such a legend LIVE. that was a m a z i n g!! no words can describe my happiness!
I think a lot of kids are into Dylan. I was in a Brighton coffee-shop and one of the girls behind the counter asked where I got my Bob Dylan T-shirt. I had to tell her it was at a gig in Rotterdam, in 1987...
joo kyle, i love you! you rock. i've totally done that before. but over 50 bucks. and a few weeks ago. found me the blood on the tracks original record at the flea market here in town. and about pissed myself.
Not a teenager, but my son is 15 and he loves Dylan. I think the poetry appeals to younger generations as it did ours. Dylan is the shakespere of rock n roll and folk music, a true timeless classic.
I've liked dylan since I was 16 and i'm 18 now. Apart from the clash, he is my favourite artist. I really grew to like him because of the lyrics he wrote (spesh in the 60's) because they seemed so right. Perhaps young people need lyrics like that at the moment, thats certainly how I feel.
Dylan stands alone. Hwy 61 Blood On The Tracks Dylan w/ The Band. There is just so much to Dylan that there is no start or finish!
