I just took a test online to find out what my religion is, because, truthfully, i dont really have one, or know what mine is. and this is what i got 100%. Ive never even heard of this, but i started to read more, and it sounds alot like me.

believe in the Bible as symbolic
believe that heaven and hell are not places but are symbolic. Some believe heaven and hell are states of consciousness either in life or continuing after death
believe that afterlife is nonexistent , as actions in life are all that matter
do not believe that humanity inherited original sin from Adam and Eve or that Satan actually exists
believe in “karma,” that what goes around comes around. Some believe wrongdoing is a matter of human nature, psychology, sociology, etc.
Some don’t believe in any spiritual reasons for suffering, and most take a humanistic approach to helping those in need.

    Contemporary Issues
The Unitarian Universalist Association’s stance is to protect the personal right to choose abortion. Other contemporary views include working for equality for homosexuals, gender equality, a secular approach to divorce and remarriage, working to end poverty, promoting peace and nonviolence, and environmental protection.
(now, i am against abortion, because I believe that when a baby is created, it already has a purpose in the world and if it is aborted, it throws the world out of wack. every human lifeform is created to make a difference for the better, who knows, a person that was supposed to be born to find the cure for aids could have been aborted)

im not really sure if i believe in GOD, because i have felt that no matter what i do, and all the work i put into something to make my life better, it always falls apart, and i would have faith, but i feel that my prayers arent answered. i have several different beliefs in the afterlife, and none include a heaven or hell. i believe that it could be just like before you were born. nonexistence.
i also believe that you could remain on the earth as a spirit for reasons unknown.

i would like an input on this particular religion, if you are a unitarian universalist. like how they worship, any beliefs i left out, what their church sermon's like.etc.

i would really like to know what religion i am. its wierd that i dont really know, but i was raised baptist and im NOt a baptist. and i have never been exposed to any other religions except penecostal, and im definitely NOT penecostal.

    what do you think?

im more of a "prove it" kinda person, i suppose. and im very skeptic when it comes to life and death, because, REALLY, WHO actually KNOWS?? no one. at all. only what they want to believe to make themselves feel safe, or to make them feel like its okay to do horrible things, cus they "saved" themselves. who really can tell from experience? all of the events that happened in the bible. the miracles. floods with a huge ark with all the animals, burning bush that talked, etc. you dont see that anymore. its fairy tails to me. just a story book that is symbolic.

You are probably a unitarian universalist because that group is one of the most diverse groups known. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people fit into that group (myself included) because there really aren't any requirements of belief in order to be considered a part of it.

Either way, an agnostic is a person who doesn't believe or disbelieve in a higher power; when asked the question of if a god exists, they'll answer "I don't know.' That's opposed to an atheist, which will say, "no." I, myself, am also agnostic.

i guess both of them are pretty much very similar. i dont rule out that there is a god, i just am not sure, like you said. Ive never been really religious. Id like to be, but i feel that if i commit to a church or a certain religion like baptist, or catholic or etc, its like commiting to a cult. listening to what the preacher says and following his beliefs, you know what i mean?

I know what you mean. but I can't see where the line is drawn between them. I guess the word cult in nowadays has become used to catagorize religions that are viewed as socially taboo.

but hey one man's trash is another man's treasure:rolleyes:

i define a cult as an establishment where ppl join together to follow one persons beliefs and perform rituals of some sort.

ie listening to the preacher, following the preacher, praying, singing, praising, falling down or talking in tounges, being "healed" by able to walk again (like on tv specials). the preacher says that this or that is not right with god, so you dont do it, but then again, at another church or religion, this preacher tells you that you should do this or that, because it IS right with god, cus thats THEIR beliefs, and ppl follow it.

churches freak me out. you know what i mean? do you share this perspective with me?

hehe, I was flipping through the channels and saw one of those "I can walk again!" programs and I was flabbergasted. I never even knew that stuff was serious & real, I thought it was all started by a joke by jim carey on this comedy program called in living color. Boy! But hey anything can happen so I can't rule it out... Just I wish I could unlock the secret of how to turn water into wine.

well, It seems to work for some people, you could always take him up there & see what happens. But beware if they ask you to make a sizable donation beforehand.

Lesson to Live By #76318) Internet tests are not legally/spiritually binding, and many times, should not be taken literally

    oooooooo

after i took the the test on beliefnet, and it told me i was a uu,
it directed me to a uu association site, AND there was a forum for debates, and a guy posted on there " are you guys associated with beliefnet?) that it told him he was a UU, and he had a bunch of his co-workers take the test, and they were all UU's too. they denied it, but whats the odds. hehehe
