Anyone familiar with a good provider? I'm looking at: EarthLink, ISP, Copper, Allvantage, Intergate, PeoplePC, Juno, NetZero, and Trip. I'm looking for unlimited dialup/high speed dialup. All these guys look good with very reasonable prices. I don't care about AOL type bells and whistles just a reliable no busy signal pop me on the net service with E-mail and maybe a web page. Any ideas or good/bad comments?
I had Juno for a while and it was descent. Just stay far, far away from AOL, whatever you do. AOL is to Internet what MTV is to music.
You know, if there is a provider in your area, you should try 'Everyones Internet.' They are a very good dial-up ISP. Now, on to my rant about dial-up. So many ISP's nowadays are trying to say that they have 'high-speed' dial up. And I can tell you first off that that is crap. Think about it. You have an ethernet wire. With numbers marching in line through it. It is impossible. The only way DSL and cabel makes it quicker is because they use not only the cord, but also little devices that attatch to them to group the information better. So, if you have the money, go for DSL or cable. Oh, by the way, the 'Everyone's Internet' website is http://www.ev1.net Check them out. My two cents. Hope that helps.
For reliability, service by the LEC is usualy the best for DSL...if you get it from anyone else you are using their liens anyway...
I had Earthlink Dial-up before I got DSL. Good service with good software, and the accelerator works well, although only for loading sites. As Maxpower said, AOL is pure evil(which is lemon-yellow and smells like butterscotch).
