I'm wondering if anyone on this forum who has done acid has experienced an acid flashback. I've been reading that they don't even exist. I've done LSA and LSD several times and have never had a flashback. My girlfriend, who has done LSD much less than me says that she gets them pretty frequently and they freak her out. She says that she sometimes hallucinates her mother being in the room with her, or other ghost like figures. She also says she gets a sick feeling. There are probably more experienced users on here, and I'm wondering what your thoughts on flashbacks are.
I had a full blown acid flashback when I ate weed brownies like a week after an acid trip once but when I'm sober I never had anything too crazy, I have infequently got fleeting moments that sort of remind of the onset of acid, like a sense of something strange in the air and corner of the eye flashes that I never got prior to tripping, also some trailing lights that probably fit more along the lines of hppd.
In October I did 7g of mushrooms and 2 hits of acid... hardest I've ever tripped and the only really bad trip I've ever had. Anyways, about two weeks after that I was playing my keyboard and I had this really high quality sound pack and when I did certain chords it sounded amazing and made me get a feeling like I was tripping. I looked at my closet door and it was shifting around like a bowl of soup. It wasn't normal hppd stuff, this was full blown tripping visuals. It freaked me out because it was so vivid and I had the exact same feeling/mindset I did that night. It was 3 in the morning and I had just smoked a bowl... I hear being tired + marijuana will bring out hppd or a flashback so that's what I think happened.
If I'm intoxicated in some other way (never had it happen with anything NOT at least sort of psychedelic, normally weed) I can get flashing patterns or rippling/trails. When I wake up or walk into the light from the dark, everything flashes, as though there's a strobe light on it, but I know full well there's not. It can be aggravating if I'm trying to do something and already have little concentration from just waking up. But all the effects I've ever had happen after going from dark to light. I would suspect some sort of increased activity in the visual part of my brain, to try to compensate for the darkness, being responsible. What your girlfriend has does not sound like a normal flashback, but some sort of serious disorder, likely in schizoid in nature. Or else she's lying and has never taken LSD and thinks it makes it rain ponies while you shit rainbows.
