Hey Everyone. In the past months, I have really gotten into A Perfect Circle. I LOVE his voice, and I personally enjoy the lyrics and how mellow a lot of his songs are. What are your opinions on the band? If you like them, what are some favorite songs? If you don't like them, why?

    Thanks :)

Right now, Pet is probably my fav song by them, although I prefer the old album to the new one. Maynard has an amazig voice of course. Check out any Tool you haven't heard for a different twist on something that is similar to APC.

Yess. Pet is an awesome song, though like you, I also prefer the first album to Thirteenth Step.

I'm getting more into Tool as well. It's great stuff. :)

"Thinking of You" is bad-ass. I love that song. I also like "Orestes". Then again, I'd say that whole album resonates rather nicely with my soul. Thirteenth Step is a whole different feeling from Mer de Noms. That's what makes it so impressive. There are those unmistakable APC moments like "Weak and Powerless" and "The Outsider", and then there are brilliant and lovely anomolies like "The Nurse Who Loved Me". Damn, that's a great song. And "Gravity" rules. Overall I'd say that Thirteenth Step is more depressing than Mer de Noms, but I'd also say that the newer album is more advanced than the first one. It strikes me as more experimental and intricate...delicate, even. Both albums are among my favorites.

Like some of you guys, I like "Pet," but I also like "Brena" and "Thinking of You." Also, if you're looking for Tool songs, I'd reccomend "Parabola" and "Eulogy," as those are personal favorites. I saw these guys (APC) live a few months ago and it was awesome. You should see them if you get the chance.

I much prefer tool to APC.

Check out crawl away and opiate. They're not as laid back, but they really are good songs.

Maynard is an amazing musician, writer, and singer. I also preferred Mer de Noms to Thirteenth Step, but both albums are incredible. I had the opportunity to see them in concert over the summer...solidified my opinion that Maynard is a musical genius ~ they put on an AMAZING show!

Rumor has it, they have a new album coming out soon...I know I'll be one of the first in line for that one!

I love the song Vanishing off of Thirteenth Step. I used to skip over it thinking it was just a little interlude.

im actually a tool fan who found her favorite band because of the side-project of the vocalist...... i was refered to a perfect circle because i had heard "three libras" and when i got completely insane for maynard and his voice I looked at tool´s direction.... of course is kind of completely different but theres when you can see the beauty of it..... and you can not compare one with the other.... i liked mer de noms better than thirteenth step, but i cant seem to understand how when i get tired from school i just turn into the package and listen to the hole album once and again.....guess thats what makes it good!!!

i'm the same way. i liek pet's lyrics. especialy when he says things like "stay with me, safe and ignorant" and "count the bodies like sheep to the rythm of the wardrum" but mer de noms is a completely different and much better album. most the songs aerebiblical refrences and it's creepy and beautiful and spiritual.

I love both Tool and A perfect Circle. They share some of the same elements... for one, the same singer... and they both produce pretty dark yet mysteriously beautiful music.

If I had to choose which one I prefer... I couldn't
And yes, the old A Perfect Circle album is better IMO.
Especially the song, "The Hollow", always a favorite of mine.

I don't know why but Perfect Circle is a band that hits me right in my brain every time i hear them

It's not like you killed someone
It's not like you drove a hateful spear into his side
Praise the one who left you
    Broken down and paralyzed
He did it all for you
He did it all for you

APC are phenomenal, TooL - same
but I don't listen to 13th step much, b/c it makes me cry. I got up early one morning and (against my better judgement) ate some blue honey. My mom was really sick at the time and since 13th is about Maynard dealing with the loss of his mother, I listened to it and just constantly wept throughout the entire CD. I really needed that at the time though, and afterwards she & I had a good long talk. Hehe she was really jokin around with me & messing with my head that morning! She knew exactly what was up w/me! LOL!
(oh yea and she got better soon after that :D :D :D )
