Just wanted to post because it seems as if there has been a lot of attention on the research chemical scene recently, especially in the UK. What's going on here? I gotta say, I don't like all of this international spotlighting of RC's. Journalists trying to say Naphyrone is more addictive than cocaine and heroin when in reality, it's a new drug that only a very select few have actually tried. All of these sensationalist stories are bad for our scene. But what's causing it? Greedy vendors trying to make a buck? Perceived mephedrone deaths? Seriously, it's only a matter of time before there could be major consequences for vendors for sourcing. Then, it'll be even harder to get rc's and more dangerous. I'm just saying that I don't like this attention on the scene and wish it would go away!
definitely agree. i remember when mephedrone first came out and we all started to get kinda freaked out about the kind of person that it attracted to our scene. and now its just a matter of time before the next Operation Web Tryp. BUT also dont forget that there is very little the mainstream media loves more than "The New Scary Drugs that our kids are doing" stories. case and point: Jenkem. what i think will happen is the current state of affairs will split vendors into 2. The first kind will be kinda like the walmart and sell speedy mephedrone type drugs. these vendors will attract the most heat and will get busted frequently because their main audience will not use scales OR get injured or die because they did too much of a drug that has never been tested or studied at all. and the second kind will sell psychedelic research chems (tryptamines, phenethylamines etc).
Yeah, this is just plain bad for the community and I agree with not liking the attention at all. Further more when you read articles like this I can't help but think that this going to end really bad in some way or another. http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/ireland/100427/head-shops-teenage-drug-abuse
The part that's drawing the most attention is UK vendors that market RC's to get high with to the masses. That's the biggest problem.
I agree. A lot of these drugs have been pushed as 100% legal, or at least that's how the media reports I have read have portrayed them. This attracts the completley wrong kind of attention, as people basically seem to hear "Peope (Kids) getting high, and it's 100% legal". And mephedrone and the stimulant type drugs often get pushed as being "100% legal".
every time i read an article that refers to rc's as "legal highs" i want to slap somebody. anybody who would do lines of 4-mmc for 5 days straight and dying isn't doing it because it's not illegal.
