Some people don't know the most famous of George Washington's slaves was Ona Judge, who fled in 1796 while the Washingtons were eating dinner. She was Martha Washington's personal maid and managed to escape to New Hampshire, where she remained for the rest of her life despite Washington's efforts to recapture her. She later married a free black sailor and had children, later sharing her story with abolitionist newspapers. She's a famous American. Why don't people even know her name?
Uh, mayhaps cause she was black, a woman, who defied the unfair slavery laws and got away with it. Slavery never happened. Black people were treated like guests on the plantations.Just like they and immigrants are treated down south today. So what's the problem?
And, I should add. There was Crispus Attucks. Crispus Attucks was the instigator of the Boston Massacre and he is considered the first casuality of the American Revolution. (Paintings at the time that were made as propaganda for the war effort in the US depicted Attucks as white.)
