    Pretty much says it all.

Our universe simple cannot be without a 'god', a direction. It could be a species . a race in reality that makes 'verses. or a single being.
The 'makeup is irrelevant' the effects are real.
That no systems or structures can exist without direction of the most basic laws.
I dont have to prove such..
Science the method says YOU must show it is false.
In 35 years no one has even come close.

You just answered your own question. Our universe doesnt need god, just laws of physics. Nothing conscious needs to direct it, the laws will direct what happens.

Now if you ask the question What made the laws, then this is another topic all together. But we can still discuss this topic without having to mention magic or god.

you are using the the logical fallacy of false dilemma where only the "god" alternative is considered (for direction), but what you fail to see is that there are infinite possibilities. (ex: by your logic we could also say that the scientific method says YOU must show the flying spaghetti monster is false!)

If you want scientific proof that says god is not real you just have to look at basic biology. If you die for three days that means your brain did not receive oxygen and all the neurons died. there. just prooved it scientifically. the only way a person can survive 3 days of death is........well.....magic..........

I've seen nothing in the universe that makes me think a god exists. It's just a big empty space with a lot of violent explosions and stuff happening.

i don't see the point in saying that these "laws" can replace the idea of a creator without discussing their origin.

    our universe?

the universe doesn't exist to give us a place to live in... we exist because we found a place to live in it!

all the universe ultimately wants to do is make iron (Fe) then compress it ... the rest is merely subsidiary happenings on a construction line... apply humanities interpretative laws to it at ya peril :mickey:

There's certainly no god in any real sense, yet here we are. Therefore "god" is not a necessary part of the equation.

Douglas Adams's "puddle" analogy is most applicable here:

"This is rather as if you imagine a puddle waking up one morning and thinking, 'This is an interesting world I find myself in - an interesting hole I find myself in - fits me rather neatly, doesn't it? In fact it fits me staggeringly well, it must have been made to have me in it!' This is such a powerful idea that as the sun rises in the sky and the air heats up and as, gradually, the puddle gets smaller and smaller, it's still frantically hanging on to the notion that everything's going to be alright, because this world was meant to have him in it, was built to have him in it; so the moment he disappears catches him rather by surprise. I think this may be something we need to be on the watch out for."

It's apparent you've already closed your account with reality, and I hope you'll reconsider one day. :)

one can believe in a creator without also subscribing to the notion that said creator is looking out for them or their species.

Of course, but I don't see why the universe needs a creator in that case. Because a painting must have a painter? If something exists, it was created? I don't think that has to be the case, but it's possible.

Atheist position: Are YOU sure a singular consciousness exists in fireballs 25 billion light years apart?

Well actually by now they're probably over 50 billion light years apart... God can't even hold himself together, he's expanding exponentially! God, FAIL!!

am i wrong to assume that scientists in this day and age also subscribe to the notion that everything in the universe is connected to everything else?

Everything is connected but there are also extreme delays in propagation of energy and gravity weakens with distance. To believe in a God who is all knowing is to believe his consciousness instantly transcends billions of light years in nano seconds with some magical neural pathways to everything. There is absolutely no evidence of any such connection in the known universe, this God is complete fantasy.

from a smaller perspective, the same is true of the human brain, is it not?

my idea of a god is similar to the idea that we are really all the same being.

I think calling it god will confuse people.
