23 year old virgin... help!

What the hell is wrong with me is it normal to still be a virgin at 23?

I've always had intimacy issues but this is getting ridiculous the older I get the harder it is to get close to a girl... I’m worried that I’ll be useless due to lack of experience. If I like a girl I can barely make eye contact... if I even start to connect in any way with a girl my brain looks for the fastest exit out of the situation...

I do know there are guys like you out there, and I think it's a shame when a guy is a virgin, most people's advice is to use a hooker, or just "get laid" with any girl, no matter who it is. It's nice that there are some guys who have the attitude to sex that you do. I also would never sleep with anyone unless I felt a connection with them and loved them. But then, it would just be seen as "normal" for me to have that attitude to it because I'm female. lol Don't let anyone pressure you into something you don't want to do. It's better to wait for the right person to lose your virginity to, if that is what you really want.

Being a virgin is not really the issue having such a lack of experience with relationships and women really doesn’t help though. The real problem is not being able to connect with people emotionally if that makes any sense. Meting someone from a dating site feels like a huge leap to take. I guess at some point I’m going to have to learn to break down this barrier that’s holding me back and just go for it! Much easier said than done though.

It does make a lot of sense, I have a lot of trouble connecting with people as well. And you're right, it is easier said than done. Im taking it you don't have any female friends? having female friends doesn't make talking to women any easier. since "female friend" is just a nice way of saying "woman that rejects you," having one would actually decrease confidence. on the rare case of a truly platonic female friend, you don't really even think of her as male or female so that doesn't really make any difference either.
