Beer is killing my remaining brain cells . I just thought I would pass this on . We do get these bad summer fires , its too bad these people lost there lives fighting this fire . When you think of Arizona you think of deserts , but the north part of the state is forest , rite now it is bone dry and burns easly . There are lots of neat little hidden towns in this part of Arizona two are Yarnell and the Peoples valley , rite now they are saying there on fire .

Thanks for the post/warning D. Rat . We are just the other side of Prescott in Mayer and last year we were treated to the Crown King fire just up the mountain from us.

It's sad about the Hot Shot team. They are the Special Forces of fire fighting.

I was a wild land firefighter in New Mexico and Colorado for three years back in the 90's. And when any of them dies in a fire, it's like part of the family. Wild land firefighting is a group of people that really care about the land and forests of this country. When you're one of them, you watch their back, and you know they've got yours.
I don't know what went wrong, but there should have been a slurry bomber or helicopter dropping fire retardant to give them an escape, but it didn't happen. 19 heroes died this morning, and I'd sure like some answers as to why. It's the worst tragedy for firefighters since 9/11.
    Rest in peace my friends.

Oh man---19 lost is a tremendous loss and tragedy. They must not have been carrying those sliver colored(don't know what they're made of) little shelters they can get under when a fire turns on 'em.

I'm still in shock about this. I just heard about it this morning.

My heart goes out to those fallen heroes and their families.

Flags are ordered at half-staff by the Governor right now.

Help for the families can be sent to: United Phoenix Fire Fighters Association

I feel sory for the families of these guys , but I did not know them . As i understand they were part of the Prescott fire dept. Prescott is not that large of an area and I am sure a lot of these guys were known in that area . That kind of fire fighting is hot , dirty and ,dangerous .
p.s. a link to the Prescott fire dept. http://www.cityofprescott.net/services/fire/ Prescott and many parts of the state are big torest areas . When this fire is out , I am sure they would love to see you at an event .
