Hello, I had my hair growing for almost two years, never combing them once. I started getting two or three nice locks, but later one in the back started as a knot and just kept sucking in more hair. With plans of going natural I didn't want to risk my head ending up with 6 thick flat dreads as happened to a friend of mine... I got serious and ordered a dread kit from Dreadhead. 6 hours later I had nice thick things that looked like dreads.. Some held but most just started dreading where rubberbands were, at the ends and at the beginnings I took 6 days before washing them for the first time and had them waxed and then waxed every other time I washed them so every 2 or one week (didn't happen too much since I only have them in since Feb 7th. Mom twisted them when waxing causing them to start getting loops, she also tried to frizz them by rubbing them up and down.... I then found this site and read that wax is bad, and agreed it didn't speed dreading at all as promised since hair is stuck in one position with very little movement. I had some specks of wax but gladly not as some experienced with prolonged use of wax. Here are some pictures: Before. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/MaciekPL87/DSC02159.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/MaciekPL87/DSC02162.jpg After. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/MaciekPL87/DSC02189.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/MaciekPL87/DSC02215.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/MaciekPL87/DSC02260.jpg Freshly Washed: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/MaciekPL87/DSC02409.jpg Today. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/MaciekPL87/DSC02454.jpg First modeling shoot. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/MaciekPL87/MD127208.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/MaciekPL87/MD104508fuckedwith.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/MaciekPL87/BlueDreadswithred.jpg Here's two problems I have, one is all the loops and hair tightenining up longer hair causing a loop as so, this started happening after my Mom was twisting the hair... =( http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/MaciekPL87/DSC02437.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/MaciekPL87/DSC02439.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/MaciekPL87/DSC02444.jpg Another problem: Two dreads combine into one by the roots... I decided to cut them, some were successful but one wasn't... http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/MaciekPL87/DSC02443.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/MaciekPL87/DSC02446.jpg Thanks for spending the time looking throught my thread, and there's alot of beautiful dreads on this forum I almost drool on my desk but do you guys have any tips for me? You possibly were going through the exact same steps getting your dreads? Thanks again =) Maciej
so what iv done with the loops for one are so kool to have and are very unique in my book but if you dont want them just pal roll it a lil mabye frizz it up a lil and palm roll from what iv been told is just let it be palm it and leave it . it will fix its slef i promise man iv had a couple and jsut left to there own thing and they turned out AWSOME TIME= DREADS
hey man don't worry about the loops, your dreads are still new, so it should all tighten up over time. and DO NOT cut the roots that are joining together, unless you absolute;y have to. That makes the roots weaker, and when your dreads become more mature, they will have small roots. Dreads usually join together..why not just et em? Phat dreads look cool anyways. oh and do you still have those rubber bands on?? If so, take those off because that also weakens the roots in the long run.
