Any drummers here? Here's something being organised by 10000+ Drums For Peace (also they are looking for people to volunteer as regional organisers for the event):

    Greetings and Merry Meet Again,
I would like to invite you and yours to join 10,000+Drums for Peace in our second world wide drumming event on March 20th. The Peace Wave. A call for world peace and enviromental responsibility.

March 20th " International Earth Day, Spring Equinox, Alban Eilir, Eostar, Eostre, Feast of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Festival of Trees, Lady Day, NawRuz , No Ruz, Ostara, The Return of the Sun Serpent, Ostra, Rites of Spring, Setsubun, and the Vernal Equinox", is celebrated all over the world as a day of renewal and hope".

Over the last year the earth has been sending us messages in the form of earthquake, floods, mudslides and tornados. We need a world wide response to bring attention to the damage we are doing to the mother of us all. A call for renewed commitment to our planet in short eviromental responsibility.

This is also the day after the second anniversary of the start of the Iraq war. There are Antiwar protests planned across the country for March 19th. We need reach out to all of them. Inviting them to join our circle. Join in our nonviolent but very loud world wide call for peace.

Heres how it will work; To celebrate this day we are asking drum circles in the eastern time zone to start drumming at 12:00 noon EST and play the heartbeat for peace for 15 minutes then drum freestyle with the heartbeat as the root until 1:15 pm. Drummers in the central time zone will start at 12:00 noon CTZ playing the heartbeat for 15 minutes then freestyle with the heartbeat as the root until 1:15 and so on across the country and then around the world. So its easy, where ever you are in the United States start at noon and play until 1:15pm. For drummers in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Asia, Middle East and Europe It will be noon on March 21st.

We can do this. We can drum a Peace Wave across the country and around the World. For the next 50 days please help me to spread the word around the world.

    If you are not already on the 10,000+ Drums for Peace up-date list e-mail me at upkentucky@yahoo.com and join our yahoo group;

This is a great plan. There is something so inherantly powerful in a drum circle, let alone creating a wave across the planet.

Glad to hear it darling one...by the way I love your picture (thanks for the quote).
I am going to put a sign just like that in my front yard...only problem is it needs to be waterproof. Maybe I'll have to paint it onto wood or something.
    You have inspired me!
    Many blessings...

The way they describe it is like this:
You put your ear to the heart of someone you love and you drum their heartbeat...ba boom....ba boom....ba boom...
    Just that, a heart's beat.
It is a beautiful thing because it centers us all in the heart quite naturally...and it is such a gentle and peaceful beat. Like the sound we heard in the womb. Our mother's heart beat. I doubt if anyone could think of war when drumming a heartbeat.

for anyone in PA, we'll be having at drum circle in St. Peters Village that day. Actually we have them any Sunday that the weather is drumable. I also came up with an idea with some friends for something we call Beats 4 Eats. Basiclly it's using drum circles to collect canned goods for the less fortunate. More details will follow soon. Feel free to PM me about details for the St. Petes drum circle.

Hey Guys...it's almost time...here's the latest: Maybe you can download the flyer from the 10,000+ Drums For Peace Yahoo Group site to hand out to other peace protesters on the weekend!

Well, the time for drums is here and I'm heading out to my circle.

May Creator lend strength to our bodies and minds.

    Play well, everyone.

And if you're not in a circle or you don't have a drum, grab a can and a spoon.;)

Beautiful vibes! I was telling people who didn't have drums that they could clap or hum or sing, dance or chant. The earth feels more peaceful to me already. Thank You!

There will be another Peace Wave 2 event - The Tsunami of Love - on the US Earth Day of April 22nd, from 7pm-8.15pm. I am looking forward to that one too.

I'll have a Drumming and Chanting Event. I have plenty of Native American Rattles and will bring them along, also Rain Sticks have a lovely peaceful sound. I think I'll ask people to bring Poems or Songs for Peace as well, and just make a lovely evening of it.

May Bright Blessings of Peace and Love Flow To You All

We had twelve people participate and a day that couldn't have been better suited for playing outside.

Since I was the only drummer there and was quite sure that I couldn't play a hand drum for an hour and fifteen minutes (much less think anyone else could), I disassembled my kit and set the various parts outside. We also brought out Roto-Toms, a set of congas, a rack of cowbells, wood blocks, agogo bells, and a table of tars, tams, shakers, and a flexitone. Towards the end it got pretty interesting sonically;).

Three of us stayed (for the most part) with the core beat. I figured someone was going to have to and figured it would have to be me (again being the only drummer). The two that were set up close to me stayed with me and the others went exploring. It was fun.

But the birds were glad when we stopped.:&

Cool - sounds like you certainly made your presence known.

I agree that it is a long time to drum and people do get bored and restless at times, especially keeping to the same beat.
I don't think I'll make it that long next time. Maybe 15 minutes of heartbeat during which the ones without drums do some kind of silent meditation, maybe laying on the grass. Even with only one drum the heartbeat is a beautiful thing for stilling the mind and we can spread out vibes of love and peace far and wide while the beat holds us together.
For the next one I was thinking heartbeat/meditation for 15 mins; followed by poems/prayers/songs for peace; then drumming and chanting 15 mins. Something like that...still coming up with ideas!
It feels so good to be doing something on an energy level and on a personal level that supports peace on earth. And its pretty hard not to hear or notice a bunch of drummers! So its a great way to spread the message of peace.
