"God said, 'Come no nearer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.' " Exodus 3:5 (also found in Acts 7:33 and Joshua 5:15) Even God wants us to be barefoot!
Thats why it would make sense to go barefoot in church because its holy ground and to wear something on your feet would be an insult to God. So therefore the churches that require shoes basically are okay with the idea of insulting God.
I consider it a sign of great respect to be barefoot in someone's home...There are some places where I will NEVER barefoot...such as my cousin's house...she's a drug user....I don't know what would be on her carpets, hidden by the dirt and shaggy carpets for me to step on unknowingly...I know, I can watch where I'm stepping...but with shag carpets and hypodermic needles, it's quite difficult to know what's where... As far as biblically minded, those texts are almost taken out of context....I'm not going to go into it, because the Bible's not my favourite topic (stupid Pentecostal people ruining my childhood!) but they were meant for specific circumstances and specific places...
I know...I was just being silly. I don't even believe in the Bible, I just thought it'd be appreciated here.
I always thought going barefoot in people's homes was a sign of respect and alot of people who wear shoes there often when they dont need to show more disrespect as far as im concerned than those who do go barefoot.
