Ever hear the 60's tune 'In the year 2525' by Zager and Evans? I think that song shows ALOT about what sort of future we could face. Here are the lyrics..it's actually frighteningly acurate, especially the test tube baby verse: In the year 2525 If man is still alive If woman can survive They may thrive In the year 3535 Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies Everything you think, do, and say Is in the pill you took today In the year 4545 Ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes You won't find a thing to chew Nobody's gonna look at you In the year 5555 Your arms are hanging limp at your sides Your legs got nothing to do Some machine is doing that for you In the year 6565 Ain't gonna need no husband, won't need no wife You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too From the bottom of a long glass tube' In the year 7510 If God's a-comin' he ought to make it by then Maybe he'll look around himself and say Guess it's time for the Judgement day In the year 8510 God is gonna shake his mighty head then He'll either say I'm pleased where man has been Or tear it down and start again In the year 9595 I'm kinda wondering if man is gonna be alive He's taken everything this old earth can give And he ain't put back nothing Now it's been 10,000 years Man has cried a billion tears For what he never knew Now man's reign is through But through eternal night The twinkling of starlight So very far away Maybe it's only yesterday
I really doubt we will have enough resources on earth to last another 8,000 years. We will have already developed space age technology and be living in other solar systems with alien species of life. And be introduced to the rest of the life in the universe...it's gonna be a lot like star wars...too bad I'm going to miss out..
Edit- it is by Zager and Evans, my mistake. Very good song and yes very creepy considering how the world is going.
well that would mean we need to find life or a suitable place to go well within 8000 light years. we can see the universe 8000 light years away, it not actually that far. our own galaxy is 100,000 light years in diameter.
Scary thoughts, the things we're doing to our planet..the universe. Got ahold of a book called 'Summer of Love' by Lisa Mason that gives a fictional perspective of a reality not far from where we stand today. A dude from the future has to go back to the '60's to save the planet, not from pollution cuz the future folks had to build bio-domes to get away from the radiation of no ozone; but from a cyber reality of anti-matter. The future folks are so far ahead on their computers that their nerve system is 'wet-wired' to their world web. Freaky......
