If you have a good enough digital, you can make quite large prints without pixelation.. And any good one will also have manual controls.. The skill is in the photographer.
That's why you do it yourself. With your own darkroom, fixer, developer, stop bath, etc. It cuts that waste in half, just about, if you know how to dilute/dispose of it the right way. I can understand that a healthy Earth is important to you, but for me it doesn't mean a Goddamn thing if art isn't involved. And digital has robbed the photographic world of...beauty.
lol, ha be honest about why you love matte paper. Sure asthetically, it has some merits, but that isn't why. Yeah, its imune to fingerprints but thats not why. Tell everyone here why photographers who do their own developing LOVE matte paper. Nah, I'll spill the beans myself... Spotting man. You can spot a matte print with a pencil. SOOO much easier. Admit it, own up, lol. I miss photography. Took two years of B&W but alwaays wanted to get into digital. Maybe in a couple more years. Enjoy
Yeah, that is true. But I really actually don't like the glare on glossy prints. Matte just looks better, and you get more midtones which I like. You should get back into it, but don't go digital on me.
Are they not powerful digital cameras that professional photogrophers use nowadays.. don't photo journalists use them also ? I think the vast majority of pictures taken and that are in the press or used in the modeling world etc is digital..i suppose you get some purists though. There is probaly even a digital camera that mimics a 'old fashioned' camera ? Is the power used to create a digital picture worth it .. taking endless pictures having the capacity to print endless amounts of them also.. i think i mean like the computer was supposed to create a paperless office but it did not..it just created more paper.
You and Soulless||Chaos are right, but they cost so much. And, again, they take away from the artistic quality of a photograph.
Eventualy the norm will be just as good as the best i reckon.... Call me a Hick but there is a element of snobery talking about the 'artistic merits' of the 'proper' kind of photography.. each to ther own though.
Hun, I know exactly what you mean, keep looking other companys sell matte paper, I've went through the same thing. It seems as though everyone is too caught up in technology to realise what the simple things are really worth to many of us... I've wrote Kodak quite a few nasty letters telling them to go fuck themselves because their all about the money not about the memories
