Yes, but it's certainly not one of my favorites. I don't usually avoid it but I certainly don't seek it out... I don't like clumps of mud sticking between my toes, often times it's slippery & because it's slippery it'd be easier to get a cut (my one cut in my feet happened in slippery sea weed on an oyster bank, long before I went barefoot in every day life, but a similar thing could easily happen if there were anything sharp hidden in the mud, stuff that wouldn't hurt if you just stepped down on it and didn't slip & slide on it) and it's often kinda cold, too. So no, I prefer dry ground... although the sandy kind is lots better than the slippery clay.
I also prefer dry ground. If I can help it, I will avoid stepping on wet surfaces. People puzzle as they watch me hop from dry ground to dry ground when confronted with wet pavement, for example. Two weekends ago I went hiking where there was lots of mud on the trail. Really deep squishy mud. There was no way to avoid it so I carefully walked through it as mud squished liberally between my toes. One time some people walked by noticing my bare feet in the mud and I said "Hey some people pay a lot of money for a mud bath". One woman laughed and said "You're going to have really good toes". Fortunately there were lots of creek crossings on the trail so I could wash off the mud before it dried.
i love the feeling of the earth in between your toes, that the way it should be. I went on a walk in a feild last summer, and it was all mud.. it was soo lovely. There was a thing that kinda was a little gross though. There was lots of cows in the feild and i feel off a tree branch into a pile of shit. it was rather unfortunate, but an experience i'll say. Feel up the mud, it rocks!
Mud is a cool sensation, I like it a lot, but only once in a while (dried mud between toes can be irritating). I think the best thing though is the duff (fallen leaves and debris) on the forest floor. Cool, springy, and 100% natural. Ah, I cannot wait for warmer weather. Michigan winters are TOO LONG for a barefooter! Especially one who only really got into it late last summer!
at the Texas Ren Fest last year it rained the day before it opened and lots of mud to walk barefoot through..... it is a great feeling. wet grass isn't too bad either.
Mud is indeed an interesting sensation; I don't look for it, but when I find it, I'll tend to walk in it.
try rolling around naked in it, or wrestling with a friend in it - throw it (not in the eyes), rub it all over, it's fun. (So is washing it off with a friend.)
ive walked barefoot in mud, grease, oil. and god knows what else, when i go barefoot at carnivals theres all sorts of stuff on the ground. same goes with movie theatres.
I love walking barefoot through mud. I even like it after it dries, it's fun to watch the mud fall off your feet.
School was out last week here. But sadly it was far to cold to go barefoot. But! I wasn't in Canada. I was waay down south so barefoot was quite alright.
