pronounced, ( tic-not-hahn),he is a zen buddhist monk from vietnam. he has lived at his community, plum village, in the south of france since the 70's. his books are a living meditation.

breathing in i calm my body.
    breathing out i smile.

    in, out, in, out
    calming, smiling, calming, smiling

he suggests that people just repeat these thoughts while sitting in a lotus position, or otherwise, and it will greatly assist us to quiet our persistent, chattering minds.

Hahn is awesome. I read his book "Living Buddha, Living Christ: Jesus and Buddha as Brothers" and I have sat through an online guided meditation by him. He is a great writer and a sage beyond words. I like the way that he teaches, too. He teaches simply but in a very profound way. I plan to read some more books by him.
