Lately I have been digging some concerts on PBS. In the past few months I have seen the Grateful Dead movie, The Grateful Dead Winterland show, The concert for George(Harrison), Roger Waters, the wall live in berlin, some deal with a bunce of 60's music the other night, and I just turned it on and there is a Cat Stevens show from '76 on. I think they have been pretty awesome.
ohh I saw the deal with the 60s music, alot of it was rather laughable though, especially that performance by the association. geez. a bunch of old geezers on stage performing a hit before most of us were born...... no thanx! roger mcguinn has aged quite a bit too, ugh they are all old. the music is timeless at least.
ohhh and that performance by john kay and steppenwolf. talk about cheesy! john kay reminds me of that uncle on napoleon dynamite. he cant even sing properly anymore either. what a joke! haha.
I didn't get to watch all of it, just bits and pieces. If it sucked I'm not gonna wait and watch the rest of it next time it is on. I saw a deal with janis, and a little section with jimi, and a little section with the doors, I did see that steppenwolf performance and I have to admit that the first thing that popped into my head was jeff foxworthy.
I saw the grateful dead movie tonite. pretty good!! instead of all the montages of hippies getting high of nitrous gas, would have cared not to have seen that.
There is also the Rock and Roll series documentary. I don't know how many parts there are to it though.
HAyduke, it's beg for money time, that is why we are seeing this. How many times did the MAjikat show get replayed THAT night? Looked like Ft Collis (Ch 6) had the GD Movie. Couldn't find the right size of potato and coathanger to get it in.
PBS puts on some GREAT concerts! I owe them a debt! See, I'm really INTO John Denver. Thanks to them, only a week after his death, I taped TWO John Denver concerts. Because of that, I've added to my collection one song that was NEVER released. Maybe you and me don't have the same tastes, I'm just giving PBS thier PROPS!
Ooh yeah, I taped the a concert from PBS when it was on one night here at 2am. In one shot, you can spot David Crosby. I think it was the wildlife concert but I'm not sure.
I remember seeing a really extremely old Roy Orbison clip. I thought I saw Springstein and Costello in the band behind him, but I wasn't sure. I really enjoyed it. And they've got the Crossroads clips on every now and again, but I don't need those.
Eric Burdon has really put on the pounds.....but he gave a good effort. Still, there are a lot of Strolling Bones around now......
We should just get rid off any tv except for public broadcasting, radio too. But anyway I was quite sad when I found out that the two PBS stations that I can get weren't showing the Dead's movie. OR, maybee I'm just too dense to find when it's on. Does anyone know something that I don't, I get WQED from Pittsburg and Maryland Public Television.
