Im 15, and ive been going to a catholic school since i was 5. at first i thought it was all lovely and wonderful. but last year i finally realized who i really am... and that i dont agree with most of what i am taught. i hate my school, and everyday in religion class i get critisized by my teacher because im not some holy roller and im a liberal person. am i the only one out there who is going through this type of thing??

fer like...five years i had to go to a private christian skool.... i hated it when i finally learned that everything they taught was bullshit :p ...they didn't have ONE certified teacher there and most of the "schooling" was singing church songs and preaching and shit. this is the reason i still can't write in cursive. :(

the school itself sucked and was really strict, but some of the teachers were really bomb

unless you had this one reeeeallly REALLY catholic teacher, she made me cry more than once  god she just had no mercy :(

all five of my siblings went there and so did my dad and his brothers so.. it wasnt like i was alone :D now im going to a charter arts school (in august :p)

hmm.. i went to a charter school for two months. but i hated it so much because i had no friends there and the school had fucked up rules, such as:
1)no going to the bathroom within the first 15 minutes of a class (science, math, english, etc...)
2)no going to the bathroom within the last 15 minutes of a class
3)your class has one table where they all must sit during lunch
4)if you want to get up to throw something out during lunch, you have to raise your hand and wait for somone who monitors the cafeteria to come over and allow you to do so.
    5) if you have to go to the bathroom during lunch, same rules apply as above
6)in the beginning of the school day before school actually starts, you have to report to the gym and locate your teacher and form a line behind them. this is where your class will meet in the beginning of the day. then you will all walk together to your class.

and also... i didnt think id get into that school. you know how they determine who gets in and who doesnt? listen up folks. they take all the applicants names, now im being serious. they take all their names, and they put them in either something like a spinny thing that you put all the numbers like "b5" in, like for which you use to play bingo... or they put them in a hat. They draw the exact number of students they are willing to accept, and voila. whichever names they pull out, are now students of the school.
    so... its like a raffle...

also, the school was on the property owned by a church. the playground was basically the parking lot, err... ick.
they also had a dress code. only navy blue, tan, or white clothing. however, they did have a day once a month where you could dress casually.
that school depressed the crap outta me. i couldnt stand it. i think i cried every other day because i hated it so fucking much. eventually my parents withdrew me, and i think thats when i started homeschooling or BHCC. i think it was homeschooling though

oh god shelly.. this was all at a charter school?

all of the rules at the one im going to are the exact opposite.. people sit everywhere at lunch, not just in the cafeteria, there are i think two little tables you can sit at if you want, where whatever you want/do whatever you want with you hair, if you have to pee you can just leave class and go, and they play that english song 'the final countdown :)D) before the first bell rings for school to start'

i really cant wait to start going there

yes, we have uniforms at my school. they suck! i dont see why we all need to look the same to learn. i mean we are all different people, with different tastes & feelings why do they try to make us all the same. they should respect our differences. ugh, sometimes my school makes me so mad.

Yeah, I'm stuck at a catholic school. We've got to wear blue dockers, a white or blue button down shirt, an extremely ugly plaid tie, casual black or brown shoes, anda belt. I really don't mind that much though, because I can take all those off after school. One thing that really bugs me though is the hair. My hairs finally back (enough) and they bug me and two of my friends all the time about it, saying it has to be at 'collar lenght' but here's something they obviously don't understand: hairlines are at the collar to begin with.

Other than the hair though, it's not all that bad. Plenty of teachers to piss off and plenty of teachers that are cool. Although one of them, you don't wanna mess with: a nun. She's wicked strict and makes everyone recite poems in front of the class every week and a half. But, I'm on her good side, cause I do most of my work and am good at writing. Besides, after the first year with her, I think everyone loses that fear they had of her.

And then there's the vice principal. She tries to pull shit on everyone and is a major control freak. But, after a lot of episodes last year, she just gave up on me and my group of friends. Everyone else still gets shit though. We were actually able to throw a piece of cheese at her, and I think she knew it was us, and just ignored it, cause she knew we'd give a hard time.

But, really, if it wasn't for the hair thing, the school wouldn't be all that bad.

wait, so your school WANTS your hair to be long(er)? My schools is extremely anti-long hair and are in the process of making anyone with longer hair cut it....i was a victim....still 4 WEEKS TO GO

No, no, apparently I didn't make it clear...they're anti-hair, and me and two of my friends want our hair long, and keep it long. They tell us that it has to be cut above the collar, but like I said, my hairline, at least, is at the collar to begin with, so even if I got a # 3 or wahtever, my hair would still be touching the collar. But, the good thing is that when they told me to get it cut, I got barely anything cut at all, and they're still leaving me alone even though it's longer now than it was then.

And I was a major victim back in september. After an entire summer of growing it out, the school made me get it cut, and the barber thought that they wanted it all taken off....so yeah...I wasn't shaved or even buzzed, but it was still extremely short. Extremely. And it finally got long again, and they told me to cut it, this time though, I cut it only a bit, and they're still leaving me alone, so far.

that sucks about your hair issues. lol. we have the same hair rule for boys at my school. but since im a girl my hair can be as long as i want. i got yelled at the other day because i had too many bracelets on. which i thought was rather strange. at my school all girls have to wear these hideous green & blue plaid skirts and these white blouses and these wierd looking brown shoes. i hate shoes! ugh! lol. but my math teacher lets me take them off and walk around in my socks. which is nice of her. but then when i leave her class i have to put them back on :(. my math teacher and my english teacher are my favorite teachers. my english teacher lets us have class outside if its not raining or anything and shes really cool. she loved Janis Joplin, and so do i, so we have some stuff in common which is nice.
