For me DD is the perfect period piece for the 80's when Dukkakis was running. I was born in 82 so i wasn't that old when Dukkakis was reall running. However when I watch that movie it takes me back to that time period. I'm afraid I'm having trouble finding an adequate description of the emotion the movie evokes in me. It's really strange. Anyone else get this or am I just a weirdo??
I had no nostalgia from watching the movie whatsoever. Did you happen to watch the movie with others in the room?
The way its filmed is reminiscent of 80's filsm...the music was all 80's too. I thought that it did capture that time period pretty well with the clothing, the inspirational speaker....it did feel like the pre-internet world of my youth. I guess kids might still do things like "sparkle magic" but its really being retro 80's and 70's.
I didn't get that retro vibe either.. not that i really remember much of the 80s.. but DD is an awesome movie.. it reaches out to different people in diferent ways, i absolutely cant get enough of it.
"Why are you wearing that stupid mansuit?" I liked the movie. It was a bit freaky at times but overall a good movie.
Since I was born in 1989, I can't relate to you about the Donnie Darko nostalgic thing, but I can say that I had to check and see when it was filmed, because initially I thought it actually was filmed in the 80s. So yeah, they did a great job with that. I love the movie, too. Some aspects of it remain unanswered to me, though, which kind of bothers me but it's fun to play with in my mind.
