either on here or in general. I like Wordsworth and Shakespeare very much. Especcially Shakespeares sonnets. Beautiful. On here fulmah rocks amongst other rocking poeticians!
One of my favorites is a guy named Javan. Not too many people have heard of him but his poems are beautiful. I used to have all of his books but gave them away in wanting other people to discover him. I want them back!
I like lots of poets. I have no time for the abstruse ones and there are plenty of those. A writer's job is communication and if I have to consult an appendix or sidebar of footnotes or glossary or whatever that poet is not doing his or her job. Shakespeare's sonnets glow because they're accessible. That's part of his genius- to effectively communicate some of life's most trying and haunting experiences and make it work the first time. Wordsworth has some amazing offerings as well. 'Intimations of Immortality' is his best work. Keats produced far less than Wordsworth but is his superior.
I'm just about the opposite of kidder, lol I’m not too big on simplicity in poetry, I think that’s probably the hardest way to write poetry. However, my favorite writer that does that style would have to be Bukowski. My roommate just turned me on to Li Po as well, and I’m liking him quite a lot; he’s like an 8th century Bukowski; very cool. My favorite poet though is John Berryman. He seems to be just on the edge of sanity, and I love that! Another poet I envied was this guy on AOL forever ago who went by the name Shlema. That guy was amazing, and I wish I could hunt him down again; he helped me out mucho. And thanks Lozi!:&
Ted Hughes, Sylvia Plath, Coleridge, Wordsworth...but most of all Walt Whitman, and man do I love him...
e.e. cummings is my all time absolute favorite, his words just make me smile. this is one of my favorites by him: i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)i am never without it(anywhere i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done by only me is your doing,my darling) i fear no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true) and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)
he's amazing, isn't he? KJ, Robert Frost is wonderful, in one of my voice classes we did a song where the lyrics were one of his poems, awful tune but the poem was so so pretty, called The Pasture, it's sweet and lovley :0)
